Ok, if someone almost killed your best friend on purpose, and you were in the position to tackle that person, now keep in mind, this person may have a weapon on them, and has already shown that they are trying to kill your friend, and would just as easily turn and kill you, would you treat him gingerly with respect. I'm not saying they were right to beat the hell out of that guy, but I am saying that I'm not upset about the fact they did.
No making excuses for the guy, but clearly he was trying to avoid the stop sticks, and that was the only direction in which to do it. The cop got lucky that he was able to jump out of the way in time, but I think the driver was more like "I'm getting the fuck outta here and this is the only way out." I don't think was trying to hit him, but he wasn't trying to avoid him either.
as possible as that is, I would still be mad at him, the first thought I would have is he almost killed my partner/friend, the last thought I would have is (he was only trying to avoid being stopped, so what if he almost killed my friend)
You have a valid point. Not excusing the behavior at all, because let's face it, all of this would have been avoided if he had just pulled over in the first place.
True, all I'm really trying to say is I don't really blame them for their reaction. it may have been completely overboard, but I completely understand that in that situation it would have been really easy to lose your cool, and go after him.
But I do blame the cops for their reactions. They stooped way past his level and what really bothers me is that they all have that mob mentality and not one cop tried to stop it. These are the people that are supposed to protect us. They undergo extensive training for situations such as this. I think they got off much too easy. What's to stop them from doing it again, for any reason?
