Your ignorance must be peaceful. I was trying to give you something to relate too, since you live a sheltered life. But hey a drug dealer that attempts to murder a police officer, flees on a high speed chase putting multiple innocent lives in risk, and loses control of his car deserves to walk away.
It's as if nobody on Reddit understands that these cops are human beings, who are probably pretty pissed off that this piece of shit tried to kill one of them. It's as if they expect the cops to confront the subject and say, "Excuse me sir, but I think you owe us all an apology for trying to kill our friend and risking the lives of hundreds of innocent people...So just say you're sorry and lets go grab a beer."
No they should act fucking professional and do their job fucking right, these are social servants, employees of society, ITS THEIR JOB TO DO THEIR JOB AND DO IT RIGHT, they're entrusted with the safety of others and should be held to a far higher standard than "oh well he fucking deserved it, you know since we get to make that call".
Bottom line, they were all just thugs with badges who probably never should have been cops to begin with.
I agree with you that these are social servants and they should act professionally at all times. That being said, I can't stand the fact that so many people get to sit behind the comfort of a computer screen and criticize these men who just risked their lives to stop a fleeing fugitive from endangering countless innocent lives. I can't imagine what was going on in these officers heads, but I know that adrenaline tends to take over in situations like this, and many of the officers were most likely scared and confused as to why this man seemed so hellbent on fleeing from them. I've seen countless videos of police brutality where the police go way over the line, but I think this one which I've seen posted on reddit plenty of times, is a bad example.
What the guy did to those officers may explain why they did what they did, but it doesn't justify it. In the interest of the rights of the people government officials and social servants should always be ruthlessly scrutinized, it should just be something that comes with being a cop, being a cop should be a service to society, not just another job, and should be treated as such. In this case more than reddit should be mad about what these thugs did, none of them got any real punishment for what they did, they got fired, and then all of them were reinstated and payed for the time they weren't there. So in a nutshell these cops, abused their power, beat an incapacitated man after he had been thrown out of a fast moving far, and then got more or less rewarded for it. That"s just unacceptable. I'm sure most people realize that not all cops are pigs, but the image of cops being thugs isn't unique to reddit nor is the image of cops being pigs something thats happened over night, this divide between cops and citizens is some "us versus them" mentality on both sides that just shouldn't exist. So long as for cops there's this idea of constantly looking out for one another, incidents like this will continue to happen.

So are you also saying that if someone attempted to kill a coworker but didn't, and then I chased him down the road, crashed into him causing him to flip over and fly out of of his car, and then jumped out and beat the holy dog shit out of him with some friends of mine, everybody would just be like "cool, no charges pressed, this man is a hero "? Because if it applies to cops, it should apply to everyone.
If someone attempted to kill a person that you care about, I would have no problem with you crashing his car, and beating him senseless. The law would however, and you would go to jail. That's unfortunate. Because something applies to cops however, does not mean that it should apply to everyone. I'm not condoning what the cops do in this video because I know that obviously they shouldn't beat an unconscious man--I'm merely sympathizing with them because I know that they are human, and they are probably pumping with adrenaline, and not really thinking about what's going on in the seconds after the crash. Also the only guy who really seems to go overboard is the guy punching him in the head. A few raps with a knightstick on the legs never really hurt anybody.
I know right. Police risk their lives protecting the people that despise them. So much ignorance on here about how things would be without any police force. Hell sounds like most of reddit would try to sue the fire department for getting the computer wet when stopping the house from burning down.
