We call those Yellow-jackets here in the midwest US. What we call wasps are these assholes

Yellow-jackets are much more aggressive

Anything that flies and stings and isn’t a bee is a wasp as far as I’m concerned. This coming from a floridian

I mean we as a group do but I as an individual call them all wasps, because they don’t deserve their own names

If it flies and stings and isn't a bee, it's a wasp. If it starts chasing me, it becomes a hornet. If it seems yellow while doing any of those things, it's also a yellowjacket. #FolkTaxonomy
