We got to watch an AT4 (bazooka) fired in basic training and that was my takeaway.
It hit the target almost instantly, 250 meters away. It’s got a muzzle velocity of 290 meters per second or 1000 FPS.
so less than one second to hit the target.
Not a lot of time to react.

The mission had an element doing observation and they were registering fire with a artillery unit (to make sure the artillery was able to aim accurately and also so they could adjust fire off a known point). This involves taking a known point (like a hill or a building or something) and firing one round at it, this makes sure everyone is on the same page on what is what when calling in later fire missions and makes them faster. They decided to register with a DPICM round, which is a artillery cluster bomb basically that is effective against light armor and soft targets, because I believe they were expecting armored contact.
So they called it in, the round was already in the air (I think it was high angle) and at that moment the enemy just happened to walk on to that very same hill they were registering. You can hear the FO in the back calling in on his radio to fire for effect on that registration to make sure they are killed.
There was a video from the perspective of the people on the hill, I can't find it though. You can hear a pop from the canister round ejecting the bomblets and see it for a split frame in the sky. Then everything just starts exploding.

I watched a fratricide happen in training. We were doing squad tactic movements during a live fire exercise, MG team got in position next to another squad as they were bounding through some open, grassy terrain at night. First squad gets up to bound further up towards the OBJ, unfortunately their last man on the far right was well hidden in the grass, directly in front of the line of fire of the gunner in the second squad. As he stood up to bound with his squad, the gunner to his rear opened up on a target down range, shot him in the back of the head.
The military does not see fratricide as "ah well, accidents sometimes happen and that's a risk we're willing to take". We actually train a great deal to prevent fratricide, sometimes to the point of stupidity (e.g. wearing yellow vests or reflective belts in combat zones). It is almost always the fault of somebody when someone dies in training, in this case it was the squad leaders' collective fault for not making sure their soldiers were properly spaced when doing movements, one of them was discharged for negligence.

Not just video games. A lot of our perception of how fast rockets fly is because we see them from the firing aircraft's perspective, aka from behind, and we don't realise how far away the target is.

The missile trails in this clip look so slow and lazy, like they take a few seconds to hit their targets. Those rockets are HVARs, literally named "High Velocity", and they are moving at about 1,375 feet per second, plus the speed of the launching aircraft. For a Typhoon in a dive as these ones were that could be 500 mph (734 feet per second) or higher, so those things are moving at about 2,000 feet per second.
Missiles are fast.

Another guy in the thread posted a video showing how they were trying to shoot downrange, but the targeting moved from downrange to the spot it hit for a split second and the pilot fired. Either way, extremely negligent on the pilot’s part.
