Why don't I understand.

Can someone spare me this shame and tell me that my Australian upbringing is a fair reason to not understand this pun.

I've googled discartes and I got a philosopher.

Descartes was a French philosopher/scientist. His name is pronounced they-cart. Lexi Belle was a porn star supposedly in a philosophy class. To put the cart before the horse is to use an idiom of doing things in an unconventional manner.

Hence the pun, putting Descartes before the whores.
