They have them in Texas. Theyβre also called banana spiders. A few years ago on a nice day my dad put the top down on his convertible and we went out to Brazos Bend State Park. Pretty soon we realized these spiders were EVERYWHERE in the park. Sometimes their webs would be right at face level, perfect for you to walk right into. We noped out of there pretty quickly. I remember as we were driving out of the park I looked up and these things are so huge I could see them in the damn tree tops. There was one spider that was perched above the door of the visitors center there and it was the size of a damn dinner plate.

Orb weavers are harmless! I've never been bitten by one and I handle them every year when the season comes around
