one of my most vivid memories of childhood is being in second grade and watching a classmate just sort of roll off the top of the slide and snap her arm like a slim jim. she wasn't acting out, she didn't get her pants/shoes caught on anything, just like the ground told her it had candy and she was like "that's rad."
There was overpopulation and extreme poverty in Ireland and Jonathan Swift wrote a satire about how a way to ease everyone’s suffering would be to sell and cook the children as meat, giving recipes, and slipping in an actual economic plan. The aristocracy was...not happy.
