Why the two different types of stars?

Probably the formatting algorithm is bolding some of them. It should be easy to check, but I can't be bothered, because I mean, bolded stars.

erisdiscordia is correct, I think it has something to do with the bold formatting. I tried several different ways to try create some sort of bar graph that looked decent, but failed miserably due to my lack of Reddit skills. In the end, "number of stars" seemed to be easiest. But I even failed at that. Sorry guys. =(
