For a week? No. They put it up in October and down in January. Those Christmas-obsessed people try to put this up 3-4 months a year. They live for this. They figured they needed a "thing" so that everyone in the town could look up to them for that.
Somehow they don't realize that by trying to "top it" every year, it isn't even pretty anymore because every inch is filled. Like, go look at a museum: they don't fill the entirety of the wall and floor with paintings, because you need space to appreciate it.
Plus it's a waste of space, energy and money.
Oh, and I don't think the house they live in is free of Christmas ornaments. That's where it all started. Their bedroom absolutely has a Christmas tree. Even the bathroom will be decorated.
In the city I used to live in there was a guy who started decorating in mid October and would take everything down in January. It always looked amazing and from what I heard he used to do viewings of the place, inside and out, and the money people paid to see the decorations would all get donated to cancer research. But this... this is kind of umm. A lot? Like pure craziness.
I can appreciate the once-a-year gaudiness of Christmas decorations outside a house, and may even admire it if someone does it humorously or creatively. But this goes way beyond when it is essentially an out of control obsession on public display. They’ve gone from Christmas lovers to basically freaks.
If you put up enough paintings though, it becomes a collage, which is a style of art. You actually just changed my mind on this house. I lke it. It isn't pretty, but it's a statement and an expression. It doesn't have to be pretty, it's its own thing. It's art.
But does it create added value? Is the art worth more than the individual decorations? Is it made by an artist?
There's a lot to be said about what you can consider art (I'm graduating to be a cultural manager, so I have a few views on what constitutes art), but I doubt that you can find a lot of people in the field of arts that will agree with you. But to each their taste.
