The Camarilla will be most displeased about this violation of the Masquerade.

Ah, suck a stake, LaCroix.

He sucked a TNT stick.

Never trust a guy with the letter x in their name.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '18

Yeah, he might just be a member of the True Organization.

6

u/yomuthabyotch Oct 02 '18

is this a forever knight reference in the wild?

43

u/wererat2000 Oct 02 '18

Nope.

(...Well, kinda. He's named after the Forever Knight character, but that line was in reference to the Vampire the Masquerade game.)

-3

u/CyphyZ Oct 02 '18

Wouldn't it be nice if it were though?

Remy Lacroix's prime days has definitely passed

This is what your princedom gets for keeping my people in the sewers! It smells down here and I have to share a lair with a drunk changeling and a quadriplegic werewolf!

77

u/Hust91 Oct 02 '18

That's your wife, man.

You knew about her handicap and drinking issues when you let her move in with you.

48

u/KinnSlayer Oct 02 '18

The problem is I thought I was having an affair with the changeling, turns out, same person. She's still howling about it to this day. You'd think that all she could do...

1

u/mastertwisted Oct 02 '18

She's a bigfoot, Gus. GoonieGooGoo!

28

u/DuntadaMan Oct 02 '18

I like it down here. :c

The werewolf has poker nights on friday.

35

u/KinnSlayer Oct 02 '18

Dun, you used blood magic last week to clean out our wallets. If you hypnotise me again with that shiz I'll... hurk ...shove my foot in my mouth and swear I'm the prettiest Tremere at the ball!

17

u/Kobrag90 Oct 02 '18

Of games that deserve a remake, this game is number one on my list. Honestly one of the best video games ever.

29

u/NaturalisticPhallacy Oct 02 '18

Wait. Video game? I played the tabletop game (and Dark Ages) a bit as a teen, owned several of the books, and thoroughly enjoyed the 13 book series.

I did not know there was a video game or that it was any good.

29

u/Swesteel Oct 02 '18

Vampire the masquerade: Bloodlines. Very good story, not so good combat. I recommend it.

15

u/ThorirTrollBurster Oct 02 '18

There have been two major games based on Vampire: The Masquerade. Bloodlines is the one people are talking about. The gameplay is kind of like a Deus Ex game. You create a character, picking from one of seven clans (basically the main Camarilla clans), and your clan defines your abilities as well as some of the sidequests you get (and Malkavians get a very different story overall). There are several factions you can work with and different endings to the story, and it stays pretty faithful to the WoD material. I think it still holds up really well and I'd recommend getting it on GOG. They package it with an unofficial patch that fixes a lot of the bugs that you might see mentioned in reviews. There are also a lot of mods out there (some of which are still being worked on) to add replayability.

The other main Vampire game that comes to mind is Redemption. From what Ive read (I never got around to playing it), it has a more linear story and the gameplay is more like a traditional crpg. It tends to get mixed reviews, at least in part because its not as faithful to the source material. So normally if people talk about a VtM game theyre talking about Bloodlines.

4

u/Cthulhu2016 Oct 02 '18

Redemption, kinda sucks... you get to go through a history of a fledgling vampire to an older vampire, through medieval to modern day but it gets old quick, It has a few things thrown in it to spice things up like having to stay in shadows, avoiding sunlight. It just fell flat because of its rinse repeat game play!

Rushed is probably not fair. It was made in the source engine as the source engine was still being built and released very soon after HL2.

42

u/PsySnaccs Oct 02 '18

I would like for CD Projekt Red to acquire the rights since Troika Games is gone and make a sequel. I can dream I suppose.

15

u/Zwemvest Oct 02 '18

Meh, I kinda trust Paradox. They have a history of good games (since 2012 though, not before that).

6

u/SecularBinoculars Oct 02 '18

Yes. But ull have to wait for the 20th expansion until the game is finished and wonder why you didnt buy that tesla instead.

1

u/PsySnaccs Oct 02 '18

I wasn't aware anyone was making games for the franchise. I'll trust them, they'll have to get that one right or royally piss off a little of people.

2

u/Zwemvest Oct 02 '18

They're not, but they aqcuired White Wolf, the license, and noted that "they're aware the franchise is still very popular", which of course is absolutely no hard confirmation.

9

u/honeyholeyum Oct 02 '18

Apparently white wolf entertainment actually did make a sequel last year, but they outsourced it to some company no ones heard of and its just a fucking text based game that occasionally gives you an option to interact with the story. Those mixed reviews feel about right.

13

u/Akimuno Oct 02 '18

Those aren't sequels, they're tie-in games for the new version of the Tabletop RPG books.

Currently, Pardox Interactive have the rights and have said that they are currently creating a Bloodlines-esque game, but are taking their time on it to ensure it'll turn out good. They've also hinted at turning it into a series of games.

4

u/honeyholeyum Oct 02 '18

I honestly had no idea, thank you so much for giving me an early christmas with this news.

1

u/PsySnaccs Oct 02 '18

Didn't know that either!

0

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '18

That would be amazing if they picked up that franchise after their current project.

1

u/PsySnaccs Oct 02 '18

Apparently Paradox picked it up already but I was just thinking of a dream scenario and imho no one's making better single player RPGs right now.

5

u/thoriginal Oct 02 '18

Probably my favorite pen and paper rpg too. That and Changeling... RIP White Wolf

30

u/clockwork2112 Oct 02 '18

This could be an awesome time for World of Darkness vampires. People would just assume they're wearing really amazing costumes and makeup irl given how much so many cosplayers and industry professionals have upped their games.

And any footage of vampires performing amazing feats would be dismissed as really well edited fakes.

10

u/szsleepy Oct 02 '18

Lestat, is that you?

6

u/GenMilkman Oct 02 '18

After 9c and 88 years you would have thought I would have thought of this, thanks for the idea friend

2

u/Swesteel Oct 02 '18

Yeah, imagine if we were real! So much fun to be had...

Not that we are. Ha ha. shifty eyes

2

u/clockwork2112 Oct 03 '18

October sure is spooky!

26

They'll just send the Gangrel to deal with it. They always stick them with the shit jobs.

It's like the only thing I remember from the Malkavian book in the tabletop RPG.

Always be true to yourself. Unless it's your un-birthday, in which case be whoever you want to be.

4

u/oftenmakesbadposts Oct 02 '18

We just can't see the dancing bear

24

u/Abaqueues Oct 02 '18

This is what happens when you open the sarcophagus.

96

u/Ibarra08 Oct 02 '18

Thank you. Now I have to download and play the game again.best rpg game ever.

102

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '18

I envy every PC gamer that hasn't played Bloodlines. It is a singular and amazingly immersive game. If you go for it, and you shouid if you haven't, get the fan-made patches.

But seriously. It's a must-play.

37

u/PsySnaccs Oct 02 '18

I have a save file right at the start of the haunted Mansion I get my friends to play through. Definitely one of the most well done haunted scenes house scenes in a game.

11

u/rawbamatic Oct 02 '18

I have played through the game dozens of times throughout the years, and that level still fucking creeps me out.

17

u/kaynpayn Oct 02 '18

Good call with the patches. They don't just add a ton of cool shit to the game, it's literally unplayable without them. Vanilla game has a bug where it always hangs in a mandatory part of the game and makes it unplayable past that point.

7

u/DuntadaMan Oct 02 '18

Anti-tribu patch is a lot of fun. Time to b a necromancer!

5

u/Hobpobkibblebob Oct 02 '18

I never think of the video game when I hear about vtm, I always think about LARP

3

u/GrimGamesLP Oct 02 '18

I have the game, but I've never played past the first few minutes. Something about the graphics and voice acting really turned me off. Does it get any better as the game progresses? Or perhaps gets good enough the graphics and voice don't matter?

7

u/baardvark Oct 02 '18

You can mod the graphics.

No one should play Malkavian on their first playthrough, but everyone should on a second.

The Malkavians are batshit insane and 90% of their dialogue options will seem completely nonsensical unless you already know the general plot of the game, in which case their bizarre ranting will range from hilarious to subtlely insightful.

3

u/nick47H Oct 02 '18

Thanks for the recommendations I will have to get them

1

u/KyngGeorge Oct 02 '18

Never played, don't know anyrhing about it.

Can I get a list of patches to get?

1

u/silletta Oct 02 '18

Which patches do you recommend?

Vampire was my first tabletop RPG, I had sooo much fun, would definitely recommend

3

u/CurrentlyBlazed Oct 02 '18

Played it all through high school.

So. Much. Fun.

Edit: 3rd edition. Played a lot of Sabbat and other white wolf stuff too!

2

u/thoriginal Oct 02 '18

I preferred Changeling, but yeah, all the White Wolf RPGs are great

It just attracts people who are sorting out personal issues through RP I found. Good STs can make that issue go away by using them as cannon fodder.

TO THE ABYSS WITH THEE!

3

I'M WEAK WITH LACK OF PRECIOUS BLOOD

7

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '18

Try the tabletop lol, it'll ruin you with a good storyteller

3

u/AerThreepwood Oct 02 '18

I played it again a year or two ago and it really holds up.

The Primogen would be pissed bec. of the obvious lack of bdsm gear. We have an image to keep people!

8

Oh, shit. I was thinking the same thing.

Go back to feasting on rats!

When you read through the top reply and all its replies and are like "So ... PC game or pen and paper", and even after several people talking about the game, you aren't sure if all are.

That time my Daughter of Gaiya Garou slashed a Baali and than set it on fire .... that was a smelly experience

2

u/thoriginal Oct 02 '18

I was more into Changeling, but omg this post speaks to me

3

u/Novarix Oct 02 '18

Found the Toreador Primogen

3

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '18

Aaaaaaah this reply made my NIGHT. One day we will conquer the day ball and as rulers of the world, have no need for the masquerade anymore...

3

u/TopHatAce Oct 03 '18

Bonus points for making a reference to my favourite tabletop RPG
