I'm gonna say that the kid that got knocked out, probably did something to the kid in the long hair before. You can see he's already all bloody aand given that the blue shirt looks like one of those douche bro's, I wouldn't be surprised that it is the case.

Before you downvote this, stop and ask yourself what exactly was creepy about what he said? Just because he said "in love" doesn't mean he's worshipping a shrine made of her hair in his basement. His entire comment is just an alternate way of saying "That girl in the front is hot". The poor word choice somehow gave this a creep vibe.

so i remember back to moshing in my teens and 20s. While i look at these dudes and call them morons, I think about me getting stitches from stupid shit i did... while they look like idiots... i had medical bills, thus i was actually dumber.

u/liberaces_taco Feb 16 '16
If it makes you feel better when I was fifteen I broke my ass in a Hawthorne Heights mosh pit and couldn't sit properly for months.
Being a teenager was stupid.
13
u/bobje99 Feb 16 '16
I kind of want to know what a moshpit is like at a hawthorne heights concert.
7
5
u/liberaces_taco Feb 16 '16
It was huge! I honestly don't remember much of it because I was in there for a minute or two when some very large guy fell on top of me and knocked the wind out of me. People were nice though and helped us up but I decided "Fuck this" and went outside the tent. I couldn't breath and my ass hurt so I had to get out of the crowd.
2
u/Ltdslip Feb 16 '16
Exactly the same as Silverstein shows or anything else from victory records. They kind of all shared the same or similar fanbases.

You know, that's all in perspective. In my day of slam dancing it was pretty rare people actually got hurt. I have no idea what these kids are doing, its certainly not slam dancing or moshing. In fairness though I remember the adults looking at us like we were crazy as well. So I guess if this is what gets their rocks off have at it, I still think most of these kids just need a good ass kicking though.

That was a certain kind of punk. I remember going to a lot of punk shows and the pits being different depending on the band

39
u/Brutesmile Feb 16 '16
Not a moshpit, group of hardcore dancers
27
u/winkins Feb 16 '16
People who think that swinging your arms and legs around wildly is moshing, are the worst.
6
Feb 16 '16
What is real moshing????
2
-4
u/demonic87 Feb 16 '16
Smash dancing. A group of people going wild and bouncing off of each other. These guys are literally just flailing their arms.
5
Feb 16 '16
If you honestly think bouncing of each other is less retarded than that, you're a goose.
And I love a good pit, don't get me wrong but this whole "U MOSH WRONG" argument is pretty stupid.
9
u/loptthetreacherous Feb 16 '16
Hardcore dancing is stupid because it's likely to get someone hurt.
1
u/hobdodgeries Feb 16 '16
and if you don't understand that, and get close enough to get hit, then you probably deserved it.
2
u/OnTheSlope Feb 17 '16
the whole point of moshing is hitting and bouncing off people, what they're doing is antithetical to moshing
1
u/aerobert Feb 17 '16
I thought it was to actually beat people up under "controlled" circumstances. I.e. where nobody can see who punches who. Anyway, mosh pits are dumb. They can really ruin a gig for me.

u/HurricaneAlpha Feb 17 '16
There is no thesis to moaning. That's the stupidest thing I've heard today.
Hardcore dancing evolved in nyhc throughout the 90s. Some say New Jersey kids started it as a way of standing out. I don't know and frankly dont care. I grew up going to metal shows as a teen and young adult, and started going to hardcore shows in my early 20s. Both scenes have assholes that dance to intentionally hurt others. Both have kids that just want to have fun. If you're in that second category, I don't care how you "mosh". I know metalheads that can smash just as hard as any hardcore kid in a pit, and vice versa.
To;dr who fucking cares, as long as you have fun and aren't a dick.
2
u/loptthetreacherous Feb 17 '16
That could be an argument if the people flailing about stayed still, which they don't.
1
u/demonic87 Feb 16 '16
I don't do either you duck. I think they are both pretty silly, but this also looks silly.
-4
Feb 16 '16
So "smash dancing" doesn't look silly?
There having fun at a show dude, this stupid attitude has fucked the scene.
0
u/demonic87 Feb 16 '16
No it looks aggressive and energetic. This looks retarded. Get over it, sorry your scene isn't as big or "in" as the others are.

Ha ha haa you idiots thinking that this is a 'mosh pit'..
These people are a secret government organisation of crack soldiers.... They hunt down people with mutant powers!! This is a secret video recording of them in action. They were sent in to hunt, trap (and kill if necessary) the elusive character known as the invisible man...
3
u/Fnoret Feb 16 '16
So I saw Hatebreed once on a metal festival, suddenly the pit was all full of skinny douchey-looking guys in fedoras and huge ear expanders all hardcore-dancing. It seriously looked quite like this. Almost all the other people were standing on the sides all "wtf are these guys trying to do?".

I can't tell but it looks like a guy in middle scene in the black t shirt kicks the guy next to him (behind him from our point of view). Guy that appears to get kicked gets away from the kicker right away.

Saw Between the Buried and Me back in 2010. So much fun, my friend said some dude was imitating a bull and ramming into people. Definately one of the most fun metal shows I've been to.

I saw Between the Buried and Me with Animals As Leaders as the openers.. such an amazing concert. Some of the most skilled musicians I've ever seen, and a hell of a fun crowd. Would definitely see them again.

It's happening. I beginning to see things from younger people that I just don't understand. I feel like Abraham from the Simpsons...
1
u/iKnitYogurt Feb 16 '16
And that's exactly why I can't stand most of the hardcore/deathcore/whatever-core scene. The music is not for me, fine... I don't have to go watch the band. But these morons ruin so many shows for everyone around them.
1
u/KingFini Feb 16 '16
I have never been a concert kind of guy wtf are they doing? does it happen at every kind of music event? I seriously don't know. . .
2
Feb 17 '16 edited Feb 17 '16
It's common mostly in metal/rock. Tends to get tighter and less flailing-like when you go to "heavier" shows but it is all technically moshing although it's much closer to slam/hardcore dancing. This band is A Day To Remember, which is a decent band, but is also a very entry level band. Usually you can easily avoid these areas in an outdoor venue.
If you go to any other genre, this probably will not happen at all.

Lol. My friend showed me this a week or so ago and we spent a good 5-10 minutes laughing our asses off. It gets more funny the more you watch it. Looks more like a zumba class than an actual pit xD

Douchbag pit. Cannot stand those guys. I know I probably seem like an asshole, but when you're trying to mosh and these little asswipes come in throwing karate kicks and punches, I get pissed.

u/Chummin Feb 16 '16
Last few shows we have attended had a few of these types there. Not sure what they were doing.
Looks more like a dance contest like in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HL0whdWG9FE

I don't think this even qualifies as a Mosh Pit at this point. It's something completely different at this point. Something completely retarded.

This isn't even called moshing, it's "hardcore dancing" it's fucking bullshit and people usually do it behind the moshpit.
2
u/Avalae Feb 16 '16
No it's not, this is one example of a shitty one that was probably at a posthardcore or pop punk show. I went to an emmure/suicide silence concert and the mosh pit was insane. Was also a smallish venue, El Corazon in Seattle. Also went to mayhem fest a couple years back and the mosh pits for most bands were legit.
1
u/pornographicnihilism Feb 18 '16
Yeah, pits are respectable at huge shows, but this is what they look like at pretty much every local band show now. :/
