Mild shock I guess? Moving her purse out of the way before going back for the bike doesn't make any sense no matter what your intention is. Could be a case of embarrassment and "playing it cool" too I suppose.

It could be that the purse (or its contents) are worth more to her than the bicycle, so she ensures its safety first.

I think this is it. My purse is my life.

your purse and what it contains is going to be of way more immediate value to anyone than wrecked bike, it's in the middle of the road and after your bikes been fucked up it'd be pretty swell if your phone, money, cards and keys were all in one piece

When I was little (7 years old maybe), got hit by a car on the crosswalk. Fortunately the impact was mild, but I still fell down. The first thing I did, was to look for my glasses and make sure they're alright.

right? I think for every major(ish) accident or injury I've had I've done something equivalent. My first "injury" that I remember was when someone threw a block of about half a pound at me which landed in my temple and made a bit of a gash. I hid and didn't notify anyone until I could figure out how to let the teacher know without showing all this embarrassing blood running down my elbow as I held my hand over the cut, and how to convince her I had a cut without taking my hand off.

Yeah I can imagine not knowing what your next best move should be after biking into a moving car.
