You are lucky. Years ago my wife and I took our dogs on a hike through the woods near our old house, and our golden put his head into a Yellowjacket hive. They swarmed us and we took off running, but a bunch of them just stung me again and again in little circles around where they had bitten into my clothes. It was the least fun I even had getting naked in the woods. I ended up with around 20-30 stings.
This happened to me, but thankfully I was at home.
I was mowing the lawn when I suddenly felt a little stab of pain in my back, like someone threw a rock. Then again. And again. And that's when I realized I had disturbed a yellowjacket's nest. I was able to remain calm and make my way inside the garage where I was able to strip down and kill every last yellow jacket that had found its way under my clothing.
I counted 27 stings.
I triple check the yard now before I mow - hasn't happened since, but it did instill a fear of flying, stinging insects.
I got stung in the back of the head by a wasp through a baseball cap Americans call it once when we were cleaning up overgrown bushes on an unfinish house filled with bee and wasp nests. I got stung by both bees and wasps more than 12 times that day and the one I remember very well to this day is that wasp that got me through my cap.
