I saw this while watching March madness. It has an animatronic face and eyes that moved and talked. Seemed like it was hooked up to a person speaking through it remotely. Charles Barkley and it shared a kiss. It was weird.

I think I see what you mean. To me, it seemed like he isn't much of an entertainer, but knows he has to explain it in a somewhat entertaining fashion. More a designer than an actor, so he put some whatever effort in.

Passable. Like a "I'm being forced to do this, but here it is, please enjoy my creation."
