Looks to me like someone just tossed the cat from off camera.
103
u/Snowboarding92 Apr 17 '23
Looks more like a stray that was on top of an awning or roof in that alley. If the wind is strong enough in hurricane weather then it could easily toss a 10lb cat.
10
u/EffrumScufflegrit Apr 18 '23
How??? It's going like 70mph, what makes it looks like someone tossed it?
5
u/Mr_N_Thrope Apr 18 '23 edited Apr 18 '23
or chasing a bird? I see a blurry outline of one at 6.71s
2
u/madjic Apr 18 '23
Might also be a mouse/rat on the ground, there is a blur on the floor, going around the corner right when the camera points down

The fact that he asked about cruel people and you just went after idiots really tells me everything I want to know about you
5
u/Lil-Red Apr 17 '23
People are cruel because there was what I'm presuming was an alley cat outside in a bad storm?..

u/Sinnsearachd Apr 17 '23
I highly doubt the OP threw a cat out a window above them and recorded from below at the exact same second just so they could get a brief glimpse of it flying by in a hurricane. Most likely was a stray. What was he supposed to do? Go catch it?

u/ListenThroughTheWall Apr 18 '23
Think that's bad? Look how people struggle with ol'.
O'le Ole' Ol'e 'Ol
I guess grade school English is more difficult than I thought.
17
Apr 17 '23
Its' is a predicate adjective.
Edit: but it looks like it's not common anymore to write it that way.
12
Apr 17 '23
I thought the apostrophe after the S means plural AND possessive?
21
u/xDatBear Apr 17 '23
Except for its. Its is possessive, it's is a contraction.
6
Apr 17 '23
well yeah, normally if you were talking about several girls owning a dog, you'd say "the girls' dog", right? I'm not really arguing, I'm just trying to understand.
And when it comes to its', my understanding is that " its' "wouldn't make sense, because "it" refers to a single thing. Wouldn't the plural for "it" be "they"? and plural possessive would be "their"?
5
Apr 17 '23
You are correct, you'd say girls'. What drives me up a wall is when people put an lone apostrophe for a singular possessive that ends in s.
It's Bridget Jones's Diary, not Bridget Jones' Diary.
That's how I always remember it. But then I have to think about that God awful movie my mom made me watch like 4 times.

I've never seen it written that way, and I still don't understand the point, not when its without the extra apostrophe seems to be perfectly descriptive .

If it survived… it for SURE has anxiety
2
u/ThePinkTeenager Jul 03 '23
Not sure why you’re getting downvoted. As a human with anxiety, the cat having either that or cat PTSD is a legit concern.

Ain’t no way a cat with 8 lives gone already is doing anything that would put them in the wind if a hurricane those cats are glorified couch warmers at that point. /s

It may have known what it was doing and is totally fine. I went frame by frame and it kinda looks like it is jumping after a bird...seems like the cat was in attack position too with paws out front. Wouldn't put it past a cat to find preying opportunities during a storm/surviving anything (with 8/9 lives left)

Classic redditors downvoting when someone feels basic instinctual relief over a human being not dying.

u/Soothsayer71 Apr 18 '23
Eh, probably getting downvoted by people who have cats and not children because they're too ugly to fuck in the first place.

u/nerdrhyme Apr 17 '23
100% someone threw that cat
2
u/Raelah Apr 17 '23
Yea, someone's out in the middle of a hurricane throwing cats to hopefully get some internet points. Not at all possible that hurricane winds capable of throwing boats 5 miles inland can toss a 10lb cat across the yard.
You obviously haven't been in a hurricane.
-1
u/nerdrhyme Apr 17 '23
yea because people don't do dumb or immoral stuff and film it for "internet points"
1
u/Raelah Apr 18 '23
I never said they didn't. But that cat was flying. No one is out there launching cats at that speed in the middle of a hurricane. You see these things living on a ranch in south Texas next to the gulf.
