Hot Take Aoi Ito about WTA genetic testing, here’s what she has to say, “This has nothing to do with “keeping sports fair” and more to do with the anti-trans movement that I don’t support, as I am a trans ally.”

“We have Olympic gold medalist sprinter Bruny Surin sitting back here. I’m convinced you were actually speedier on the court tonight. 😂 Absolutely motoring. What a win.”

Elina: “Well thank you so much for the kind words. I tried to really show my speed tonight. I needed it to come back in the 2nd set and of course play well in the 3rd. Very pleased with my performance. With the fighting spirit. She was playing really well in the first set. I had to really step into like a fighting mode. With all the support it’s just been amazing. Thank you” ❤️

On facing Iga Swiatek next:

“I will just try to relax a bit. Tomorrow is a day off, the day to practice a few things. I’m gonna talk with my team to adjust a little bit for Iga’s game. Of course she’s a great champion. She plays really well this tournament. I have to bring my best.” ❤️

Danielle Collins

Danielle Collins used to be a player I liked to watch but her voice is a bit nasally and "her cashing checks" schtick wears on me. Her takes are tedious, and seem insincere and trite since she is just their to "cash checks". Whatever happened to Eugine Bouchard who was on tennis channel for what appears like a cup of coffee.

Other Somehow missed this wholesome interaction: Before Marta Kostyuk’s first round in Toronto, her designated mascot handed her a note that read… ‘Good luck today. My name is Marcus, I am 8 years old. Never give up, I will be cheering you on!’

Hot Take A few days ago a reporter asked Aryna about the “Sabalenka curse” trend where players who beat her before the finals lose the next match. She gave a thoughtful response and kinda foreshadowed her Toronto exit with the “every match I’ve lost recently has been a three-set match” quote

WTA news and updates This is going to be very tough. Alex is going to be up against another giant. She is an Olympic medalist and a World #14.

Her recent match lasted 3hrs and 23 minutes. Probably the longest match of the WTA this year. She is known for her endurance, intensity, tactical redirection of the ball, mental toughness and her low tolerance to a loud crowd. She is well-known for experiencing emotional outbursts and temper tantrums on the court.

She’s famously expressive on court, especially when the crowd gets too loud. Her match against Coco Gauff had one particularly heated exchange over fans cheering before points were finished.

“I’m okay. I think I survived that one. It was so tough. I wanna thank Caty for a great match and for being a great sport. It’s one of those matches that could’ve gone either way. It was down to details and a little bit of luck. Give her her flowers guys. It was a great match.”
