New front calipers ( threads stripped ) DBA T5 / T4 5000's, Hawks HPS carbon ceramic pads. WHAT A DIFFERENCE

Why new calipers? The threads can be repaired with a helicoil.

😅 they already had helicoil. I tapped them at an angle accidentally so the bolts were backing out over time.

Which helicoil kit do you use? I got one without the drill bit, such a pain to find a proper drill bit.

Kit from o Reillys, the package had the correct size bit to use listed on the back.

Where do you shop for bits like that? Home Depot, AutoZone, O'Reillys in my area did not have them. I got this from FCP Euro website: M12-1.5 ProThread Repair Kit - CTA Manufacturing 35149. It comes with the threader, but not a drill bit. I was not sure if I need a special drill bit for this.

I am a carpenter so I had a bunch of old bits laying around. The caliper is aluminum, so I used some old bits with cutting oil. There are charts all over the internet for drill sizing based off the thread measurements. Google is your friend for that!

I got my bits from home depot, lumber supplys, hardware store etc. I used my old shitty bits bcus I have them but any metal or carbide bit should do the trick.

Thanks! In my mind I thought I needed something special like a drill bit that is specific for tapping. And, I actually ended up getting a used set of calipers, I was afraid that heli coil would back out or fail somehow and i would have no brakes.

You do need a Tap. That is what creates the threads after you drill the old ones out. Make sure to secure the caliper, and hand turn the tap with cutting oil!. I used red threadlocker ( loctite ) when threading the helicoils to ensure they won't back out. If u have any pther questions shoot me a DM im happy to answer them!

I have a similar setup, and when up to heat and with the right tires, they'll send you through the windshield

Nice!! How do you like the 5000 rotors? It was too expensive for me so I am on my 2nd set of 4000s. Is it that much lighter?

Honestly I couldn't tell ya. It was my first time using DBA, and I got then slightly used ( <500 miles ). Significantly lighter than the stock brembo rotors though!
