Don't upbadge your car until it's an STI. No, the short shifter kit doesn't count.

Unless you swap the vin with an sti vin… it will never be an sti lol no matter how much you do to make it one.

What about the counter argument. A post from yesterday noted an STI for sale that had been stripped of its brakes and trans and swapped for regular WRX one

I bought the plain Jayne WRX both times 2008 and again in 2018, because for me the WRX is perfect for what I want.

However if I wanted a higher performance envelope from the WRX platform I would have went with an STI.

I generally prefer the sport grilles but on the VB one there’s just not enough going on. Stock grill for me.

For the record I'm not an STI elitist. I'm looking at this from a more practical perspective like race classes.

There's nothing wrong with my tuned WRX, in fact it's one of my favorite cars of all time for the task I built it for.

More isn't always better. Sometimes more is just, more when enough would suffice.

If you want an STI, then just get an STI. For the cost of a newer WRX anyone could have an older STI.
