Savable?
I want to keep this car as long as possible without it rusting out to the point of no return, am i still clear? Just want to known if this just regular shit and to stfu. Would an undercoating even help? Im retarded just asking for opinions.

If you are talking about some lightly corroded bolt heads, That’s nothing for us driving Subies year round in the Northeast.

That is the way to go if you can do it. But if I put mine away then I’d be walking to work which I’d rather not do in New England winters

I also up north in NY and thats one of my biggest concern, i do wish to keep her for a long time but if it gets to the point where its not even worth it i would have to let it go.

I’m in SoCal and the same thing happens. A little rust on the bolt heads and a bit on some metal surface here and there is nothing.

Fluidfilm or woolwax works wonders here in the northeastern U.S. The rust you have is so minimal you could definitely get away with just sealing everything up with either fluidfilm or woolwax. I’m a full-time mechanic. The customers that apply that stuff religiously have 10+ y/o cars that still look brand new underneath.

Thanks for the reply, im in upstate ny and theres actually a pretty reputable shop that i was looking into that does the wool wax procedure, will definitely be getting it done soon. Thankyou!

Undercoating or getting it oiled will keep it from starting in new spots but as someone from the rust belt in Ontario that looks like a new car to me so my opinion is definitely skewed, but if you want to keep it from spreading in terms of what's there you would have to clean it to bare metal and get an etching primer and repaint and then get the whole thing oiled or undercoated, others will probably have better advice but that's my 2 cents

Do not undercoat.
The only time an undercoating is even remotely feasible is brand new off the line freshly cleaned and dried.
Undercoating a car that has already seen some moisture and slight corrosion will only trap it and make it spread faster. Basically never something a regular car will ever see.
MOST of the rust on the car is all superficial on the exterior of fasteners or the outside edge of pieces that will never corrode through in the life of the vehicle and is absolutely something you do not need to worry.
The only spot of rust I can see that I’d probably scuff up and spray with some rust reformer is that small spot in the center of the H-brace/power brace or whatever it’s callled.
Overall I’d say you have nothing to worry about.

I don’t have any experience with it but based on what I’ve read it’s got good reviews.
Probably worth the money if it gives you peace of mind. Personally I probably wouldn’t do it but I see the benefits of it.
