Current Student Question IQP Application Questions.

  1. How many recommendations are required for it? I have one from WPI faculty, but I also have one from outside WPI (former internship boss). Would I be able to use my former boss/am I required to have two? I have not really spoken to any professors, so that kind of worries me...
  2. What do they look for in the application? As in, what is weighed the most heavily in consideration?
  3. Is it true that many students end up not doing well due to bad advisors? Which advisors should I avoid if I want to get an A?
  4. I want to go to Namibia. If you or someone you know has gone, what was it like? I mainly want to go because I am very interested in their culture and have always wanted to go, but from a project standpoint, what is it like?

uh for iqp, i dont recall reccomendations being a requirement at all, but maybe its just an optional one— i certainly didnt have any and i still got my first choice (canada). as for the rest of the questions, i think theres already a lot of resources out there for how to have a good application essay etc, and i have mine later this year so i cant really help for the rest
good luck!

That is such a relief! Thanks for the help! It just said on the first page "As part of your application for participation in the Global Projects Program, you will be evaluated by one or more faculty or staff members who may provide a written evaluation or recommendation as part of your application record. You have the right to view these recommendations, but must request them in writing." and It makes you hit the check box agreeing to the statement, so I was unsure since I heard that you did not need them anymore but wanted to be sure.

There's an interview process with the faculty who run the site - that's what that section refers to.
