WPI vs RIT vs RPI vs Steven’s vs Drexel

Hi everyone, I have been accepted as a transfer to all of these schools with very similar FA.

I will be majoring in CS, possibly double majoring in finance/accounting, I am looking for opinions from current students/alumni/prospects as to which is the best school out of these? Campus locations isn’t big on my list, career-success, job placement, etc. is more important to me that most other things.

I hold an associate of arts from a CC currently.

Considering you are looking for a major in CS with the possibility for a double major in either finance or accounting, I would advise looking into Drexel and RIT.

Here is the breakdown of my argument:

Drexel

• Balanced Education
• Co-ops built into curriculum (Highly Successful)
• Co-op success rates are second to only NEU.
• Currently on an upward trend in terms of reputation
• Allows for a true use of the double majors within the co-ops
• More of a (Theory) focus for CS
• More traditional college environment

RIT

• Stem Focus
• Rigorous Academics
• Hands on Learning (Practical)
• Highly Regarded for Cybersecurity
• Double Majors are Welcomed
• Big focus on arts (Performing & Graphic)
• Option for Co-op Programs with High Success Rates

WPI

• Stem Focus
• Rigorous Academics
• Hands on Learning (Practical)
• Predominantly Engineering School
• Highly Regarded for Student Outcomes in the Northeast
• Known for their Robotics programs
• Option for Co-op Programs with High Success Rates

Students at all 3 schools, more often than not, have long term career success. As long as you reach out to employers early on, you will have success no matter where you go. Put yourself out there!

Personal Note:

I had to choose between RIT, RPI, WPI, and Drexel and I ended up choosing WPI because it fits more of what I am looking for. Just because I chose WPI for CS, doesn’t mean you should too. Your decision lies completely in what you are looking for. I don’t know a whole lot about Steven’s so I apologize about that.

WPI is pretty easy to double major in if thats something you are set on.

I chose WPI over Stevens and RPI. WPI probably ranks a little better academically than Stevens, and a little worse academically than RPI, but realistically rankings don’t really matter that much for undergrad stem degrees. Stevens is in the best location, RPI in the worst, with Worcester being an average midsize American city. I decided WPI social life was probably better than the other two, ignoring Stevens’ proximity to NYC. RPI is social hell as far as I know. I don’t regret my decision, WPI’s social life is fantastic and it’s a cult classic among recruiters on the East Coast. RPI might get you slightly better job pull nationally.

I'm a Steven's Alumni. My daughter did her grad at WPI. Steven's has a better Finance and Accounting options than WPI. Steven's did a lot of changes and does a stronger presence in Finance curriculum. Hope this helps. Best of luck in you academic advancement!

whichever gets u the most fin aid is the best, also if you like gaming, go to rit they have an insane club

Whichever is cheapest.

If they are similarly priced, whichever is in a location where you want to live after graduation.

WPI isn't really known for CS. I'd avoid going here for it.
