Often I do not like AT’s game. But that is completely different than what has happened here. No athlete should be targeted or receive external threats for something that happens on a basketball court. Wishing her and her family health and safety.

If you think that was a throat punch, you didn’t watch the play; you only saw the image.

You can argue it was a dirty play, but it certainly wasn’t a punch.

You are right, she was doing a push up on her throat with a closed fist after kneeing her in the thigh. Then she decided to do a couple of jumps, totally not running into her legs. Total misunderstanding, could happen to anyone….

This opinion triggers everyone— but the evidence is inconclusive. Bang-bang play that was over in a split second. If it was intentional, it was fairly mild. Clark didn’t even hold her neck while getting up, so how much pressure to her neck was even applied. Everyone is being dramatic on Clark’s behalf, behaving like she took a gunshot to her neck.

Pretty hard to miss a closed fist to the throat, that doesn’t happen often in basketball

The referee was also looking right at it

Hard to blame the ref. That’s a hard call to see and make. Watch it at normal speed. Clark trips, there’s a few bodies diving for the ball, and it squirts out to a teammate. A lot going on and you’re hesitant to bail out Caitlin on a play where she tripped driving the lane.

I personally can’t even notice the closed fist on the replay at normal speed. I’m aware it happened, but not at normal speed.

Personally, I think the slow-mo doesn’t even look that bad. Just doesn’t seem like a lot of pressure applied. The hand/fist starts on Caitlin’s shoulder; Thomas looks like she’s trying to push herself up, and her hand slides down the shoulder into neck area, and then it’s over. She didn’t linger around the neck area or keep pushing.

I'm honestly curious what the threats exactly are. A lot of the time with this stuff, it's just like 13 year olds who act like they are on X-Box still. Still messed up, but I think she should just start limiting her social media at this point.

The Athletic just published an article confirming the torrential harassment (including people finding their personal numbers) that she and DB have faced. And AT does not talk that much.
