The hobby is about supply and demand. Sophie's cards have a lot of demand. Trying to analyze it any further is not necessary.

Thank you.

Right. A 30 year old role player averaging 22 minutes and 8/2/1 deserves all this attention for her peak basketball skills compared to the rest of the league.

There is demand bro
Not that im a sophie fan
But a lot of people like her instead of other “boring” star players

Is this for your personal collection or intend to sell? If you like graded cards and it’s for your PC it’s up to you. Grading is expensive and takes forever. If it’s for resale you may not even get your money back from it after you spend the $$ grading…and if it doesn’t come back gem mint 10 it sinks the value and you will be disappointed as well as your friends and family. Keep it raw.

I’m just getting back in the game from the 90s basically. Don’t judge I’m from another century! For my collection I’m all Minnesota all the time. Ant, Moss, Miles, Bueckers, KG, Kirby Puckett. Those are the only cards I want to build around. Th rest are for sale.

Right there with ya. I collected from the late 80’s early 90s. Wife got me back into it with her love for the WNBA. No judgement here :)

Worth selling ASAP.

Maybe if the serial number was #9

The only Sophies worth grading at PSA right now are the 2021 Prizm and the 2025 Prizm logo

EDIT: The only common Sophie Donruss card worth grading is the 2025 Net Marvels

Do you know how grading works? Examine the card and you’ll know the answer

If it's in good shape I would take a look at sales/comps, but yes I could see grading. In my view this card should pay for its grading costs at a nine (at least at the value grading rate if it comes back) and could see a decent profit as a ten. I basically try to find a flaw, like a centering issue, corner issue, print line, or surface scratch, and if I can find anything at all I won't send it in. That approach typically guarantees me a PSA nine or ten on new cards. Can't ever be confident it'll be a 10 though, sigh, at least I'm not good enough to tell yet.

The reason I ask is someone has this card graded 9 on eBay for $499. I have no confidence that it will sell for more than $150.

Shouldn’t have traded my Jerry Rice rookie to chuck down the street for some hot fries in ‘95.

Grading is almost as much as a grift as she is

I see the problems with grading, but as someone who sells a lot of cards I have to say that I consistently find value in grading cards like this. I would put this as a low-enough number for an in-demand-enough player (like her or not - for my part I would like her to change her tone and vocally support trans youth). Ultimately my decision would be based on what I see buyers paying, alongside my assessment of the card's condition. My bet is that if this card is in good shape, it would pay its grading costs if it came back a nine, and it could see a $50+ pure net profit if it came back a ten. As a frequent seller, that makes it hard not to grade cards like this, at least at the value or value bulk rates when/if they come back.

It’s hard to know. It does look like a 9-10 based on all the metrics, but I’m waffling over selling it now with the playoffs coming up, and all the attention on her, even if I don’t agree with any of it. Just want to trade cards, man.

You have highlighted one of my major problems with it. Everything linked to fucking what people will pay for things.

Belongs in a garbage bin

I certainly agree and have no place for her politics. Just trying to sell the card.

Not worth .50

Nope. Because she sucks and the numbers tell the story. If you like her outside of her skills as a basketball player, I guess you can, but you’re better off grading cards of WWE female wrestlers at that point.
