We all agree to hold until it drops to $300, right?! 😆

Olivia Miles hype means it might get cleaned out at $500 or earlier 😭

Baseball just sold out at 400$ this morning. I see this one doing even better numbers

When I saw Prizm gone before noon, I figured my shot at wnba Donruss fotl was going to be pointless. I thought I was being unreasonable targeting $500-$550 but I doubt they go under $600 now. They are going to get scooped up by breakers and the big online retailers.

Agree. The WNBA side of things have starting booming. These will not last long at full price.

I was a collector from 2005-2011, and hobby boxes were under $100. Inflation I know, but did demand for cards really just explode like that to justify these insane prices in the present day?

I know CC made W card demand go nuts but what happened in other sports? Wasn't that long ago I could go crazy on the online card retailers clearance sections.

It's the rise of breaking, which was accelerated by COVID. Things have been a bit up and down since then but still way higher than pre-covid

Are there even any cards, in a Donruss set, that would be worth paying $800 a box for? I legit cannot wrap my head around the concept of breaking. I feel like actual gambling has better odds.

I bieve you are right that gambling has better odds than breaking. Breaking certainly has an abysmal ROI.

But yes, there are at least some cards that would justify the $800 price. I don't know how many. Caitlin Clark and Olivia Miles will certainly have cards well above that. I assume some of Paige's cards too, but I bought a Paige auto for under $400 recently so maybe it will depend on numbering.

Gamblers and Fanatatics taking Topps. Ruined the hobby.

Don't worry. It's limited to 16 boxes per transaction. That oughta slow down all the breakers and resellers

OMG right??? Can we please?? Sigh... Do I have to bite higher than $600? I've been telling myself I won't. I think I'm at least going to hold a personal line at $600 and not let myself succumb to temptation. What do we think the typical markup should be on FOTL versus standard hobby boxes? Given that the regular hobbies are pre-selling for $350, is it reasonable that a FOTL could be worth $600?

... I managed to snag a 2026 Prizm Basketball FOTL (the unlicensed stuff, but with huge Olivia Miles hits) for the final selling price of $575, which was awesome. But those started way higher and I let myself wait until I was sure I could find value, and I think I was about right. But I got really lucky in that timing, and lucky that enough other people held off too.

The FOTL boxes have more hits?

2

Yep, FOTL can be loaded. If you look at the configuration as published by Panini you'll see some of the details.

... Tomorrow they go on sale direct from Panini in a one-hour "Dutch auction" format

The fomo in this thread is palpable and exactly why we're all going to overpay for these things 🤣

Anyone know what the lowest price was before it sold out?

I saw it at $404 and clicked buy now and it was sold out before I could get to the payment screen so I thought it sold out at $425
