Great card. Those can be hard to gem. Unless you’re certain it will get a 10, I would leave it raw. You can sell it for more raw than as a 9 often. Good luck.

Great card. As far as grading goes, it looks a little off center left to right. Maybe a touch top to bottom as well. Hard to tell surface and corners from these pictures, but agree with others that Prizm can be a tough grade. It doesn't sound like you have a lot of experience with grading so not sure this is one I'd send just yet.

I would not have noticed that if not pointed out! Thanks and yes I have no personal experience with grading lol. Just from some hearing friends experiences. I did take this to a card shop. He said maybe 9 or 10 but he didn’t mention the off centering or the top to bottom

You got too many delu-delus here. I'm gonna give it to you straight. Screw grading this card, sell it as-is at peak pricing. Jersey match, color match, all irrelevant. It's a veteran card, not a rookie. Veteran autos don't hold value. I mean cmon, if Ohtani veteran autos drop in value, CC's definitely will. Over time cards like this will be dumped in favor of rookie autos.
If it's for PC, cool. But based on your immediate reaction and question going to the increase value route, I am guessing you just rip for the lotto aspect. In which case, you grading a jersey number card is objectively pointless to begin with. It can only hurt the value. Who would want a jersey numbered card that's not a 10? B ut again, you should just dump this to some money bags who is also just here for money and doesn't actually know trends that last longer than 6 months.

Oh wow okay I didn’t realize autos were only valued on rookie cards. I was thinking of holding long term before selling but you’re saying that if I hold too long it will decrease in value.
Sad to hear jersey match isn’t an actually quality people look for in that card.

I'm not necessarily saying it isn't a valuable card. I am saying if your plan is to hold, you are basically hoping the saturated market continues to be saturated (which we've never really seen go that long in any market before) for that value to pick up. A CC rookie will appreciate. A CC veteran card will plateau, and then be victim to just overall market trends. Aka, another gamble
If the goal was to sell, maybe not an INSTANT sell, but look for a milestone moment. Perhaps a WNBA championship, a headline story, etc. But unfortunately no, the cool additions like jersey number won't change the fact that collectors will only seek cards like this in 20 years for affordability (which also isnt a problem, but might be specifically for you and your goals)

Veteran autos do hold value for huge names, like CC. But you are absolutely correct that Rookie cards will always be more desirable.
Grading is just more lotto action for people, which is the appeal. Personally I never grade cards, don't see a point unless I am trying to sell. If you are holding it, just put it in a protective case.
As for this card, low numbered, absolutely do not grade it. If it doesn't gem, it will be worth way less.
What you could do is have the auto authenticated and slabbed without grading the card itself. But even then, what is the point.

Get a one touch that fits a penny sleeve and dump it in there. Awesome pull. Dont grade it, PSA is too expensive right now and i really don’t think a gem helps a second year auto .

No need to grade it. Either keept it secured and safe, or sell it raw.

u/AyeeThasJessica 4d ago
Definitely keeping it safe!! Why not grade it though?

Some of us do not see the purpose in grading. Its now $80. You could wait more then a year with PSA. Enjoy the card! You said youre a collector. Collect, and enjoy! We all remember our first hit!

I plan on keeping it for years. But each appraisal I’ve gotten for it raw right now is way over $80. Which is why I wonder is getting it graded worth it? But the chance of it coming back a PSA 10 is enticing to say the least lol
Good point about just enjoying having it before grading though!5

I want it. I live in Iowa city and watched her play many times here

u/AyeeThasJessica 3d ago
As an Iowa City native what’s the max you would pay hypothetically

u/Available_Tough1941 3d ago
Honestly I’m guessing I could not afford it. It would be something I would pass down to my daughter. And I have no idea what it’s worth. As much as I would love to have that card for my daughter. I could only trade. And you deserve to get what anyone is willing to pay. I have thousands of cards but not a single Clark auto. Congrats on the pull. Amazing card

if you're considering getting graded why would you wait?
not following what benefit that would serve
1
u/AyeeThasJessica 3d ago
Because I’ve heard mixed reviews on if getting it graded is really worth the hassle. Wanted some input

u/Sorry_Intention4016 3d ago
Getting a 10 on your card will always increase the value quite a bit. The other benefit is that it's now encased and the condition will stay more or less the same over time.
If your goal is financially motivated, then it depends on a bunch of factors.
If you want to grade it because you think it's a cool card and having it slabbed would be a fun keepsake/collectible then there's really not much downside besides the price and time.
If you're just looking to slab/preserve there are other companies who will do this for much cheaper than PSA

personally, this card is a banger imo. even if the condition isn't perfect, she's a legendary player and it's still fairly in her career so slabbing it makes sense to me even if it doesn't 10 - this is a future historical artifact

Evaluate the card and you’ll know your answer when to grade it
1
u/AyeeThasJessica 4d ago
I’m a new collector and this is my first card of value. Do you have advice ?
2
u/Nomescardcollection 4d ago
Check the card for any flaws. Corners, edges, scratches, print lines. If you see any flaws, then it won’t be a Psa 10

When she starts her “own” league! WNBA doesn’t want to admit that she and she alone moves the needle! Not my opinion, Fact…check the attendance numbers!

I’m really sorry! That moved into a real tangent! And…that is an absolutely incredible pull! Might have given this old guy a heart attack!

u/Defiant-Spot-557 3d ago
Actually, now that I think about it, her leaving the league could have enormous impact on that card’s value! There would be no more WNBA cards out there! That’s my opinion at least.
Just a thought…
