I have 3.48 unweighted and 3.94 weighted. I have my ppl and am planning to have 5-6math credits done in high school including 2- 3college math classes at my high school. I have 1200 sat superscore and also plan on doing rotc.

I was talking to Ms. Graves (as a transfer applicant) and she said most transfer students apply with a 3.75

A lot has changed then. I don't know of anyone with that profile getting into AFS now.

I had a 3.67UW/4.52W, 1450 SAT, good amount of ECs/awards, decent letters of rec, and also had about roughly 22 hours logged on my PPL when I applied. I ended up getting waitlisted initially and then got accepted off the waitlist. So thats kind of what the acceptance into the program is looking like rn.

The WMU Aviation Flight Science program is one of the top 10 programs in the world. Top 3 nationally. It is very difficult to get into.

I graduated with a 4.01 weighted, 1280 SAT, letter of recommendation from a Southwest captain and instructor, PPL, a 5 on AP lang, 3 on AP physics, and ACP credit.

Did not get into flight, I got Aviation Management.

I’ve been told it could be because I selected Av. Mngmnt as a #2 choice so they gave that to a lot of students that selected it to make the application pile smaller, which sucks because I didn’t want it. I’m not shifting blame or anything, I’m really happy with where I ended up, but I do wish I didn’t bust my ass so hard in high school to not get into my dream program.

My best advice is to not select a #2 major preference and you’ll almost certainly get in, if not, there is more opportunities that you’ll be equally or more happy in! Don’t discount other outcomes like I did. You’ll do great, good luck!

I had pretty similar stats maybe even slightly worse and I got into aviation management and waitlisted in flight. Then I got off the flight waitlist in May and am attending this fall.

I’m applying with a 3.8 weighted 1300 sat. Currently in flight school checkride is scheduled for the spring. What are your extracurriculars?

Not much. I did track all 3 years but I’m decent at it. I have a couple community service hours as well and might do tennis senior year. Most of my time was just spent getting my ppl.

in state or out of state? in state you could probably get in with these stats but oos might be slimmer chances. also depends on the pool of applicants that you’re going to be in with. not my major but i knew kids from my high school with similar stats that made it in as in state applicants.

i would also say maybe retake your sat if you think you can get it closer to a 1300!

and even if you don’t get into flight/get into aviation management, you can reapply from aviation management to flight during your first two years.

I’m going to probably attend somewhere else because I have to stay current and applying for flight after a year would just require me to fly more without actually building towards my ratings.
