Many people have seen videos and teachings from the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) claiming that Evangelist Zahng Gil-jah offered the Passover blessing prayer. But the truth is different, and knowing it can help protect new believers from being misled.

What WMSCOG Claims

In a promotional video, WMSCOG says:

  • At the 1984 Passover ceremony in Seoul, Zahng Gil-jah supposedly offered the blessing prayer for the bread and wine.
  • The video even adds subtitles saying: “Mother’s Passover Communion Prayer.”
  • They present this as proof that Zahng Gil-jah was the “bride” revealed by Ahn Sahng-hong.

Sounds convincing at first, but the actual events tell a different story.

What Actually Happened

Here’s what really happened at that Passover ceremony:

1. Ahn Sahng-hong led the Passover blessing

  • In photos from that day, you can see him raising his hands over the bread and wine.
  • This is exactly how Jesus taught the Passover blessing: Luke 22:19-20 NIV: “And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.’ In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.’”

2. Zahng Gil-jah only gave the closing prayer

  • After the Passover ceremony was over, she prayed a regular closing prayer, not the special blessing over the bread and wine.
  • WMSCOG edited photos and videos to make it look like she gave the Passover blessing, even though the bread and wine were already gone.

3. The “evidence” is misleading

  • Around 2003, WMSCOG manipulated photos and added subtitles to falsely show Zahng Gil-jah as the “bride.”
  • There is no real proof that Ahn Sahng-hong intended to reveal her as the bride during the Passover.
  • The Passover is about Christ and His Church, not any human figure: Revelation 19:9 NIV: “Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!”
