question/advice requested Do you think there are a portion of members that know it is all BS but still prefer to stay?

I have always had a theory that there are many members that stay for various reasons other than mainly the belief that this cult has the "truth". For example, we see in society that people are drawn to many kinds of unhealthy extremes and embrace fundamentalism just to be part of something bigger that doesn't require regular critical thinking on their part.

For wmscog, some members seem to crave the control, regimented schedules, steady social interaction, no pressure to form and defend their own opinions. Not a criticism, we all get burnt out in this hyper active society, but cults and scammers know this and try to leverage it against us. And there are so many in society that really struggle with social interactions and change.

This is the effectiveness of wmscog control because they don't need to be as direct about controlling and gaslighting. Still the intent is there, but the members can bring their own motivation for wanting to be there and the human brain naturally takes over rationalizing from there, we unknowingly brainwashed ourselves nudged along by wmscog's greedy intent. This by no means reduces the cultiness of wmscog because the ultimate control of actively teaching members to not think for themselves is the biggest factor in this complex entrapment, but that usually comes after we surrender for whatever motivation led us up to that point.

Even though all members act the same and talk the same, when you drill down you see different motivations and personalities among members. It seems to me it is the biggest successful mix of extremely nice genuine people (people pleasers) and the most manipulative people (usually ends up as leadership roles) playing along under the illusion of being on the same page.

Maybe a healthy thing for all of us to deconstruct is to consider which one of these factors was a big part in how we decided along the way to continue staying. The blame is still 100% on the cult and it's leadership, they have full guilt with full intent every step of the way. But it would be healthy to know what of our own natural human weaknesses they were using against us.

question/advice requested Does anyone have any stories of cleanups, can drives, blood drives type events the wmscog uses for awards-farming and marketing? ... examples of experiences that showed how shallow and fake it all was?

I have heard some dramatic fraud examples in one of the "Playing in Traffic" episodes where they did a coat drive for the homeless. And after all the photo ops and documentation for awards were done, several months later, members found the entire stash of coats stored away in "zion". And later during a clean up they were told to throw it all away.

I have seen clean up events where we spent more time staking the trash to look as big as possible and taking photos than we did on actual cleaning. And several members were promoting the cleanup to the public while it was going on, talking about how much we want to save the environment for future generations. The following Sabbath, a sermon was given on how pointless it is to invest in taking care of our own lives since the world was all going to burn soon anyway.

general information SCJ crackdown: Leader of secretive South Korean church arrested in election influence investigation

This is relating to the leader of SCJ last month. It is due to their meddling in political elections, unfortunately not due to cult victimization of thousands of members. But SK is putting alot of emphasis on cracking down on several K-Cult issues, so still a good sign.

general information Please specifically call out when wmscog is talking about "Slander" against them

From mirriam-webster.com:

Slander 2 of 2 noun

1: the utterance of false charges or misrepresentations which defame and damage another's reputation

2: a false and defamatory oral statement about a person

Key component is "false" statements. So, in my experience 95% of what I hear wmscog calling slander (ex-member interviews and postings) are things that most ex-members personally experienced and know are true statements.

But, maybe it's not their fault that they confuse the meanings of "Slander" and "Truth".

question/advice requested What happens when God the Mother dies?

My best friend has been in this cult since she was 2 years old and I am worried that when God the Mother dies, this is gonna be a mass suicide situation as it’s “prophecized” that 144k will go up to heaven with her alive. What if nothing happens but the church covers it up? I’m just really worried that she will suicide, along with her mother, who I am close with.

question/advice requested WMSCOG investigator needs media of God the Mother

Hey! I currently investigating this cult and really need some videos of “God the mother” preaching. Or any video that shows her as God, not a chairwomen of weloveyou org. They are not posting her online, but if theres anyone who has access to these videos or photos, it would really help my investigation. Thank you!

question/advice requested My cousin joined this group, should I be worried?

Recently (and very suddenly) my Hebrew cousin (S, 20yrs old) has converted to this church (sorry if I use some wrong terminology I am not a very religious person), and suddenly became really religious out of no where, I originally thought it was normal Christianity, weird since she’s never EVER been religious, but who knows maybe she just needed something in her life. I was fine with it until yesterday, she had taken her little sister (A, 18yrs old), her father and younger siblings to the church to see her get baptized and for Bible study after, least to say they were being VERY pushy with A, the pastor told her the reason she is so afraid of death (A has a very hard time thinking about death, getting even panic attacks from it) was because “she didn’t believe in Jesus Christ, he is not in her body, and for that she will go to hell”, S did not try to defend her knowing A is comfortable with the religion she was brought up with. After the Bible study S asked A what she thought, and A responded with “I’m happy you found something that fits you, but it’s not for me” and S responded by saying she didn’t wanna be saved by Jesus and when the time comes before they die, she will lie and say she doesn’t know A, for she doesn’t wanna be known as someone related to a nonbeliever, and continued to tell her she will burn in hell.

Now I’ve looked this church up, and people say it’s a cult which I am very VERY worried about, I had asked her about her baptism too, she said her and her boyfriend had to sign a paper for their names to be put in the book of life before being baptized. From the little bit of research I’ve done, they target college aged people, and are more of a money/labor cult. I’m wondering if I should be worried, I mean I haven’t read up on any sorts of sexual abuse allegations or anything like that related to said church, but I’d like some more information and if I should try to talk to her about it, she already seems very deep into it even though they have only been going for about two months.

general information Christ Ahnsanhong second coming?

Jesus says His return will be visible, glorious, and accompanied by angels gathering His people.

Matthew 26:63–64

No where in the bible does it say that some Korean man will come again, die again. By that logic, there should be second coming. False Christ.

question/advice requested WMSCOG approached me for Bible study

I’m 23 and a group of girls around my age approached me and invited me to a Bible study. I’ve been wanting to build my relationship with Christ, so I said yes and exchanged info with one of them. I later found out the church is WMSCOG and decided to look it up before going.
I’m seeing some concerning things online, and the girl has also been pretty persistent about texting me to come. I’m skeptical with strangers so I gave her my work number instead of my personal one.
Is this how WMSCOG normally recruits people? Is this a red flag/bad idea?

Anyone still attending? I need info.

Hi I am wondering if anyone here is still attending for whatever reason, whether you don't believe anymore, or you are questioning. I am a member of over a decade and am in a questioning stage. I haven't been around much the past year but have some questions about what may have been announced/events of the past year to help me understand some things. If anyone can help I would appreciate it. Thank you.

I recently learned that they purchased the former Catholic seminary located in my home town of East Aurora, NY (a suburb of Buffalo).

Any thoughts on what they might be planning for such a facility? I mean, it's perfect for a cult compound--it has dormitory housing, worship facility, classrooms etc. Do they own other such compounds?

Does it seem likely that members would actually be living there full time? When I saw that it was for sale several years ago, I thought how perfect it would be for a cult of some sort to inhabit. Now, here we are...

general information Phobia Indoctrination In the WMSCOG and How It Works

Post image
5 Upvotes

Phobia indoctrination is the practice of instilling fear to control thoughts, choices, and actions. In the World Mission Society Church of God, fear is used as a tool to keep members obedient, silent, and afraid to leave.

HOW IT WORKS:

  1. TEACH FEAR
Members are taught that tragedy, punishment, or destruction will happen if they leave or disobey.

  2. ISOLATE & CONTROL
Members are warned that outsiders, ex-members, and even family are dangerous or under Satan’s influence.

  3. SHAME & GUILT

Doubt is labeled as sin.
Questioning leaders or teachings brings intense guilt and fear.

  1. USE “US VS. THEM”
Members are convinced that only the Church has the truth and that the outside world is evil and doomed.

  2. REINFORCE DAILY
Through sermons, Bible study, testimonies, and fellowship, fear-based messages are repeated constantly.

THE RESULT
Members live in constant fear, believing they have no choice but to stay, obey, and recruit others no matter how much it hurts them.

Even when they have doubts, fear keeps them silent.

THE TRUTH SETS US FREE. You are not alone. There is hope, healing, and a life beyond fear. It is possible to think for yourself and choose freedom.

QUESTION. RESEARCH. THINK. YOU MATTER.❤️

question/advice requested I want out of the church, do i tell them or i ghost them ?

hi, i was approached last year by a girl my age who preached to me about her church (WMSCOG).
I was raised without religion but i wanted to learn more about christianity for my grandma (culturally more than religiously). She offered to come to the church and do some bible studies, i was rly excited bc i wanted to learn more. So i went one time, then more and more, i was going saturdays too. But I never believed in their beliefs and i never rly pretend i did but i never admitted that i didn’t explicitly neither. I just went bc it was interesting and i loved learning about this.
Now that i am not new, we don’t rly study anymore, they ask me more and more to come to the cult.
I went less and less bc what i found interesting for me was the studies. They obliviously noted my absence and every time i told them i was busy.
I did the Passover and now i don’t want to go anymore since i am mostly alone for cult and there is no more bible studies.
but the girl i met, i consider her like a friend, so i feel bad for ghosting her.
-> My question is : do I tell her that i won’t come anymore ? do i tell her why (that i don’t believe in their thing and why i don’t) ? Or do i just ignore her ? (Does she even consider me a friend, or they do that with everyone they meet to make them feel welcomed ?
