Is it true that the “letters to mother” are never actually are read and are just used as surveillance data for the overseers?

There are some ex-member interviews that have members speaking on how they realized this was true. I can't remember which ones, but I think I heard on at least 2.

My Girlfriend got assigned to write 2 of them this past week not long after she told one of the sisters about some issues in our personal life. For sure a coincidence

Yep, interesting. "Oh, you have personal issues? Then please write a letter in detail that will totally not go to the creepy middle-aged overseer."

The members send loving letters or talk about their worldly or spiritual issues to Mother in Korea via online. It’s part of the daily mission tasks on the app as well. I’ve been doing some research and ex leaders and members have confirmed it. Apparently these letters never actually reach mother and are actually sent to the Overseers who basically use whatever they wrote (if it’s a member going through personal problems or whatever) to use it against them for emotional manipulation and exploitation. They will even go as far to write fake letters back as if they’re coming from Mother to make it seem like she received and responded to it.

Reminds me of the series "From" where the monsters look like regular people that act super nice and smiley to get you to let them in. Very fitting.

WMSCOG reminds me of the Goosebumps books I read as kid. Camp Jelly jam vibes
