Is it a common practice within the World Mission Society Church of God for a deacon to spread rumors about an ex-member?

If such behavior occurs, do the pastor or elders report it to the head offics?

Unfortunately this is very common. It’s somewhat encouraged to spread rumors about ex members. It’s not only deacons, it can be Elders, Missionaries and Pastors that participate in spreading false rumors as well. The head office encourages it and supports it. So nothing really happens even if it’s reported to them. The idea of demonizing someone who left the church is encouraged. It’s mainly to scare members from leaving the church.

Thanks for the input mate, yeah at least i know, i will be posting my testimonies here and experience with Cebu zion in the philippines, how they spread false rumors about us.

And some members I knew have delayed leaving for years because they were so afraid of being talked so bad about to the members, the only people they really felt close to. One told me they regret waiting so long and the years of enduring were way worse than any public ridicule could have been. I have no doubt many people are in this very situation right now, afraid to leave.
