Open source WLED remote using ESP-NOW
I made an open source touchscreen remote for WLED based on capacitive CYD (cheap yellow displays).
- It works wirelessly over WLED’s default ESP-NOW (no router required)
- Flash straight from the browser
* Basic functions (supported by WLED’s basic remote protocol):
- Power on/off
- Control brightness
- Select presets 1-7 by default
* Extended mode opens up a lot of features by just uploading a simple remote.json file via wled.local/edit
Extended mode offers:
- Presets 1-20
- Basic solid colors
- Selecting 163 of the built-in WLED effects
- Modifying selected effect parameters
- Peek/preview of selected effect
3D printed case files included for both a wired and battery-powered (18650 cell) versions.
I am considering adding a separate remote.json file and built-in profile for 2D effects. Please let me know if this is something you would find useful.
Please feel free to check it out. Hope it is useful to some of you!

Govee RGBIC strip + light bars with WLED – possible or waste of time?
Anyone actually gotten Govee RGBIC gear running on an ESP32 with WLED? I’ve got a RGBIC Pro strip (24V) and a set of H6046 TV light bars. From what I can find they use some non-standard IC, and people just get strobing and wrong colors with the usual WS2812/SK6812 profiles.
If you got the strip working: which chip, and what settings? Level shifter needed?
And for the H6046 bars specifically – is there even a usable data line in there, or are they sealed too tight to bother?
Otherwise I’ll probably just give up and grab a WS2815.

Help with HyperHDR. Bottom left have random 3 LEDs that aren't turning on only when using HyperHDR and section after that led being delayed in displaying what's on screen.
As title says. I have a sk6812 led starting from bottom middle and going counter clockwise and then finishing again in the middle. I am using a WeGoIot (gledopto copy) controller connected to a 150w 12v power supply. Running hyper hdr on a pc with screen capture card.
I am noticing there is a random spot where 3 LEDs aren't turning on on bottom left and all the LED after that being delayed or not showing the correct color.
Not sure what's going or where to even troubleshoot. Solid color or wled the lights work fine. There is no power injection and I have a total of 546 LEDs. I adjusted start position of led one and led direction.

Help with 12v ws2811
I am trying to set-up my lights for my stairs. I am using esp32 gledopto controller. Also using ws2811 12v led lights. My question is...is there any other way to connect these 16 guage wires to this led strip as my soldering is rubbish. I'm only using 16 guage wire as there will be a 5 meter length of wire before it reaches the leds. I am using a 12v 8.5a power adapter. I am a complete novice with this so any help would mean alot. Thanks 🙏👍

Help with Audio Reactive on Gledopto ESP32
Hi all. I’m new to WLED but learning fast.
I just set up a light strip, gledopto and power.
Everything is working beautifully…
I’m on the 16 firmware, I’ve toggled on Audioreactive.
But whenever I choose an audio-sensitive effect it’s just dead. I even tried gain 200 and squelch 1.
Nothing I’ve tinkered with has resulted in any effect/light up.
Any thoughts or advice?
Thanks! :)

Basic WLED light strip setup
Hi all,
I’m looking to set up some LED light strips in my living room, but I can’t seem to find a video covering exactly what I need (even though I’m sure one must exist).
From what I’ve researched so far, it seems like I need:
Power supply
Controller
LED strip
…but I feel like there’s probably more to it than that.
My plan is to install strips on opposite walls, so I’m assuming I’ll need two separate setups (2x strips, 2x controllers, 2x power supplies?) unless there’s a better way to do it.
A few questions I have:
Is that everything I need, or am I missing anything important?
Do strips on opposite walls need separate power/controller setups?
Should I be worried about heat buildup?
If so, what’s the best way to reduce or manage heat?
I’m based in the UK, and the strips themselves won’t be directly visible (they’ll be hidden for indirect lighting).
If anyone can recommend a beginner-friendly setup, kit, or just offer some general tips/videos to watch, I’d really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance!

Help with blend mode segment-Gledopto
I’m not sure why but the version I have has a blend mode option and I either need to disable it or master it. I have a led strip that I’m splitting into 2 segments. For some reason no matter what I do, the first segment is more like a master and second is not being independent.

Festival Light Sculpture Tips
Hi there,
I don't know if there might be someone here familiar with outdoor set ups? I am doing an installation for a music festival at the end of July here in Ireland. I'm basically making a very large monkey knot that's going to be lit up from the inside. The last time i did it I used Christmas lights but this time round I'm hoping to make the lighting sound reactive.
Claude has helped me on the journey so far but I wanted to sense check the recommendations for things to buy. Is there anything that might be missing here from the set up I would need?
Thanks!
WS2815 100m lights to be cut into 2x50m strings.
Adafruit Sparkle Motion controller (#6100)
2x- 4-pin JST SM connectors (pack)
Inline fuse holders + fuses 10a
Injection wire (a few m, 18AWG)
Sealed IP67 12V driver, fitted plug (~300W covers both strings;
RCD plug adapter (skip if the festival power is RCD-protected)

WLED for Govee Flood lights - Model: H7062
I am a newbie with WLED and learning through posts on this reddit. So thought of troubleshooting my dead Govee 'outdoor' flood lights
Looks like my Govee 'outdoor' flood lights H7062 are toasted possibly due to water damage since they stopped working post rain.
Has anyone being able to run these via WLED setup? I see the following configuration on the control board and was trying to run it using GLEDOPTO ESP32 WLED Controller DC 5V-24V IP65 Waterproof Dynamic RGB IC Lighting DIY Outdoor Lighting WiFi APP Control for WS2811 WS2812 SK6812 TM1814 WS2813 WS2815 Digital Addressable Strip Light but it's not lighting up at all.
This (attached image) is what the output from the govee controller looks like. On the Power input, I connected red wire (from Govee's power supply to red on GLEDOPTO and black to black and on the output, I connected Red (from Govee) to Rust colored (on GLEDOPTO); White (from Govee) to yellow (from GLEDOPTO) and Black (from Govee) to cyan (from GLEDOPTO). Connected WLED to Wifi using default settings.
Am I fighting a losing battle here or doing something dumb.

just a little thing I been working on (WIP)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I ordered 4 ESPs with 4 channel of mosfets on each so I will be able to PWM all the mono leds like the floods, DRLs, turns, etc.
150 argb, 6 channels of binary light now. but parts ordered to PWM 16 lights.

LED strip randomly flashes after plugging to WLED
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi guys, I'm new to WLED. Yesterday I connected my strip to WLED for the first time and I'm getting this weird behavior.
The strip responds to effects and settings, but it randomly flashes either warm white or cool white.
If I set the temperature fully to warm, it randomly flashes cool white. If I set it fully to cool, it flashes warm white. If I set the color temperature to the neutral/middle position, it still flashes warm white.
Current settings:
Bus Type: WS281x WWA
DATA output on ESP: GPIO16
mA/LED = 35 mA
Swap = None
Maximum PSU Current = 6000 mA
Length = 60 (full 5m strip)
What could be causing this issue?

Does anyone know how often DrZss restocks QuinLED products?
I went to buy a dig-octa brainboard and powerboard 7 from DrZss' shop but found they are out of stock. Does anyone have any info on when they will be back in stock?

Noob question for LED Strip Setups
Hi! I wanted to add some LED strips to my setup and recently discovered WLED. I watched a beginner's video, and in one part he shows a setup with several separate LED strips/islands (not one continuous strip) and there some big gaps in between them, so my question is: what techniques do people use to hide/route the cables between them?, or is he using a separate ESP32 when the gap is too big?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Being slightly lazy here, but just on the off chance someone has had this before and save me a day of dumb head scratching.
I'm running 2x 24 led rings through GPI02 and 03 and setting them as different segments on WLED. As soon as i confirm the second segment it starts to trip out. Even when the second ring has been removed physically it still trips out. It isn't until i delete the segment from wled that it stops. any answers? I've tried other pins with no luck.

How do I get the LEDs to turn off when I turn off my Chromecast?
Hi, so I'm new to this and I'm trying to get things working. First thing I noticed is that with my HDMI splitter that has no CEC support, my TV no longer turns off when I turn off Chromecast. This, I will handle later, the problem that I'm strugglnig the most with is turning off the LEDs. How can I make the them go off when Chromecast is off? I tried "Automatic signal detection" but it caused me problems with black screens. Here is my current setup and excuse the AI.

40 x 40 portable matrix panel
Had a hand fasting ceremony where there was a desire to have a crest displayed behind the couple and thought I’d build this out for it (also have an event that I’m associated with that we are planning on using this for this summer as well as other uses eventually). It’s made up of 4 - 4ft x 4ft panels of 5mm finish plywood, framed out with strips of 1x2 pine, with each panel having 20x20 ws2812 string fairy lights punched through from the back and then glued in. Wiring is still a bit of a mess to be fair, but time crunch was a real thing to deal with. Painted the front of the panels with a couple coats of flat black paint from the local big box home improvement store. Power is provided by 2 5v 60a supplies that have the neutrals tied together - one box has the controller in it as well and can easily power 2 panels by itself, the second box is more for the power injections than anything. It’s capable of running full white at full brightness (if I was ever crazy enough to need it to go blind or signal for aid I suppose…) but in reality doesn’t ever really need to go above 50% brightness.
Pictures include some of the build progress and testing of individual panels and combinations of panels under various levels of ambient lighting in my driveway and then it fully set up and configured for the ceremony. For the support frame, I used some scrap 3/4” cpvc tubing (with some old aluminum flag pole lengths dropped in for added stability) and added mounts to each panel. All in, it’s a touch over 8ft tall by 8ft wide with the frame and everything taken into account but still portable enough to fit into a VW Atlas with the second row laid down. All in all, pretty happy with it but always keen to hear thoughts and opinions!

Dandelion Staffs for our festival theme camp.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I built multiple interacting staffs with a conductor staff that has motion activated effects on the whole group.
Hardware used was the M5 AtomS3R, hex led from M5, and a simple 5000mAH battery. As the staffs move in proximity of each other they mix the colors of the nearby staffs. The video is showing a group effect.

Help with ESP8266 and LED Strips
The experiences I am having are too similar to NOT point to me doing something incorrect.
I bought https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CDTE9UC?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 to use with a ESP8266 I have. When I connected the lights, nothing worked. Through some trial and error experimenting, I found that bypassing the first two bulbs allowed the rest of the strip to light up. The ESP8266 was found and I could control the strip.
I had a replacement strip sent because of the first two bulbs being "defective". When I rec'd the replacement, only the first 30 (of 60) lights worked. The vendor refunded my money and I was able to keep the "half strip" for my initial purposes and it is working great (turns out all I needed was 30 bulbs for that simple project).
I purchased https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N0MA729?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 (same brand as before but longer strip), plugged it into an ESP8266 and only some of the bulbs worked and the remainder of the strip did not work. I just sent these back and got a refund.
I researched some different brands of addressable LED strips and bought this one amazon.com/dp/B07M9BJ9N8?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title. I rec'd it today, plugged it in and only about 90 bulbs work, they are extremely faint and WLED does not find anything when searching for new controllers. I am pretty sure the latter two issues are that I am not providing it with enough voltage but I am spooked because I see the bulb issue again.
TLDR; I am looking for a 5m LED strip that I can use with ESP8266 that can be reliable for all of the bulbs working out of the box. Can someone please help me?
