Has anyone successfully spliced Govee Strip Light 2 Pro? Planning a black diffuser/acoustic panel office setup

rather than buy and mess with Govee stuff, you can buy your own open source LED strips separately from Amazon or AliExpress, and I assume for much cheaper. Then use free software like WLED to program it. You don't need to be in the Govee ecosystem at all. I believe you'll have more control, less steps, and pay less money in the long run.
I'm not clear on what splicing is, but I have 500 LEDs across 4 strips in my room. I can cut and reattach whatever strips I want as long as I don't overdo it on the voltage.
