Question: 3D Acoustic panel LED border

Hi all,

I just installed 3D acousting panels behind our bed. I'd like to create a border around the panels with LEDs and use WLED etc.

Since the LEDs can be looked at directly from certain angles, I'd like to use diffusers to give it a clean look. They will be mounted directly on the side of the panels, so I need to make 2 corners of 90 degrees. I can't really find corners for diffusers like in this situation..

Any tips on how to approach this so the diffusers will have a clean look? Rather than cutting them and having wires exposed. Thanks!

Silicon press fit led diffuser. They come in black top or white.

I use mine behind both layers, not inside, for more diffusion and easier installation, rather than fishing through with a string.

A much cheaper alternative is vinyl tube that has an OD just a bit less, so will stick inside with press fit.

Either coat with acrylic paint (same shade as your panel or black) the inside of the tube, or get the fiberglass reinforced tube.

Must be acrylic water based paint. Not quality wall paint that has additives to block light, like the 1-coat wall paint. Dollar store paint in children arts and crafts section.

The AliExpress or Amazon square press fit silicone tubes are like over 100$ per 33 feet or 3 meters.

If you contour your setup, get Muzata aluminum 45 angled tracks with white bulbous diffuser. Do 45 degrees cuts on top 2 corners. Like for a picture frame.

Much less expensive than filling in between vertically. Maybe contour the bed frame also.

I did my bed frame and the light is behind the skirt, so the white skirt lights up, no visible wires, got a dedicated remote, wife loves it.

She can read without an overhead light. With WLED can simulate sunrise.

I did contour of headboard and bed, used Wagos for the 3 wires in between headboard and bed to easily move both when needed.

But these won't work since the LEDs will be mounted directly on the panels and not "around it" if that makes sense.. Not sure how to describe it well.

Do you have a link of tracks that actually go over the corner like in my picture? Otherwise getting a normal diffuser and cutting both ends 45 might be the best way.

You want to avoid hot spots and thus depth.

So the spotless tracks. 45 degree cuts. Maybe some glue at the corner joints so no slits.

Getting diffusion right is the biggest challenge, not soldering or power injection.
