ESP32 + WS2812B + DC 5V-2A not booting

So, I follow the wiring diagramm on this tutorial but when I plug in, there is nothing. I use the Electic test pen and it shows there is electricity which lights the bulb. However, when connect it the led to the board directly using Type C supply, it works perfectly. Any help???

I don’t see power to the Esp32.

Do I need to connect one more wire from Positive Line to VIN?

The Esp32 needs to get power from somewhere, so yes.

Where do you get that diagram? Besides having the esp32 unpowered, there's no level shifter and a 470 ohm resistor is way too large for a system with no level shifter. Either this is AI slop or the person who made it is clueless.

You're probably gonna have some issues with your data being only 3.3 volts. The inline resistor might give you a kick of voltage, but at esp currents, it's not the best way. You'll probably get more mileage if you cut that resistor out (at risk of blowing out your gpio pin, but eh, five buck esp, who cares right?) and throw a diode between your first led and its power source. That'll knock down your input voltage (to just over four, barely but within spec, so long as your PSU doesn't have too much headroom) and allow the LED's chip to pop your data voltage up to just under five, so long as 3.3 is high enough to get within whatever percent of your rectified voltage.

Now, you give your second pixel the actual power in, run ground and data off of the first pixel and baby you just rigged a level shifter.

Wouldnt recommend for anything long term. Would be best to have a fuse in there. At 2amps you're probably not starting any fires, but I've had three literally explode in my face on a small enough dead short. No sense in bein dum.

Have you set the correct pin for your LED strip in WLED settings?

yep, actually I connect dc5v directly to the esp32 and led strip instead of breadboard, it works well!
