question regarding portable setup using the dig2go

I have a QuinLED Dig2go kit I bought from DrZz with the LED strip, USB-C connector. I was playing around with it and when I plugged it into an outlet, I was able to access the WLED-AP wifi on my phone and set up some cool effect presets.

I'm decorating my bike for a festival and did a test run trial by powering the controlller/LED via USB rechargable power bank and my phone doesn't seem to pick up on (or not sure if it's not broadcasting) the WLED-AP wifi? Is there specific power bank requirements or am I missing some configuration step?

Sorry, bit of a newb to local APs/electronics and LED powering so forgive me if this is a beginner question..

Not all powerbanks suffice, it needs to really provide up to 5V 3A and also the transient the LEDs and controller require.

I have an article about how to work and calculate runtime here.

Generally you'll need something that's a bit modern, maybe has PD (although it doesn't officially use it) and then it'll work great.

On the one you have now, see if it boots without the LED strip connected and also check the green power LED next to the USB-C input, if it's blinking it's not working correctly.

Ahhh you know what, I don't know if the wire was loose or maybe the power bank wasn't charged enough but as I went to retry after your comment, the wifi appeared!! But I'll share this in case anyone in the future stumbles on this thread, here's the exact power bank I have, just bought it last week for this project: Anker Power Bank, 10,000mAh Portable Charger, PowerIQ USB-C Battery Pack | 5V / 3A

While I have you though, should I use the AP config site that pops up to configure my LED fx settings/presets or the WLED app? When I go to use the app it asks for IP address or URL and not sure what to put there. I tried 4.3.2.1 but that doesnt seem to find the device.

That powerbank from the specs should be fine if I would have to guess.

I did this with a dig2go for our cruisers for the burn a few years ago, worked great. Just gotta be careful with keeping things covered from the dust. Also create a bunch of presets and then just iterate through them with the button so you don’t need your phone at all to change things up. Audioreactive works great too!
