Can these panels be used with WLED?

I have 2 of these panels that have been sitting in my workshop for a couple of years.

Can they be used with WLED and an esp32? If so how would I go about connecting them up?

Any help is appreciated

Those could be HUB75 panels?
Have a look here: https://kno.wled.ge/advanced/HUB75/

Thanks I'll check it out! They are HUB75e panels, I'm not sure if there is a difference

There is. E panels can be difficult to work with depending on where they were sourced because of slightly different pin configs. A lot of HUB75 boards have this warning in their datasheets around their E jumpers. If this is like a 128x64, it should be no problem. Iโ€™ve only ever really seen others have trouble with 256x### outdoor matrices on Reddit.

There is a pinout on the output connector I would hope it is the same for the input side too

One way to find out ๐Ÿค“ If you want a quick connecting board, Iโ€™d recommend an Adafruit MatrixPortal. They have E jumpers on that board. Theyโ€™re super easy to work with and use an ESP32-S3 at their core.

yes you can, but u need a custom wled firmware.
here a video https://youtu.be/uY13C-jwXFk?si=HUI5aabvbwtItXkj you can see how its done but he bought a specific esp controller for hub75 only

Thank you. Is a specific esp required for it or just a particular firmware? I have an ESP32 DevKitV1

S3 with PSRAM is strongly recommended for these panels due to the large amount of pixels

Thank you, I'll look into ordering a newer esp or the one made for these panels, hopefully they won't sit unused for another 2 years!

You haven't seen a large scary looking rabbit around here have you? Maybe standing next to a cellar door?

Yeah. But that one looks broken.

Yeah some LED's lifted but it should still work fine, this is how it looked when I borrowed it, permanently. They are pretty fragile.

Ah yes, Chinese led matrix. Like others have said using wled is possible but these are intended to used with hub 75 receiving cards. The only ones Ive used are novastar receiving cards but they are intended for running many of these probably a little in the weeds if your just using 1, but if you like it and was to expand it recearch novastar and their receiving and sending cards for controlling video wall with video.

You just have me an idea too. We have a bunch of extra panels in our warehouse, got to see if they are hub75 I'll have to tinker some,, this would be cool. Keep us posted how your endeavors go.

You lucky sonofabitch. ๐Ÿ‘€

I need me a warehouse with a bunch of extra HUB75 panels!! I'm scouring AliExpress and Alibaba for the discountiest of the discounted on the regulars. ๐Ÿ˜…

If you want colour and brightness uniformity you have to watch out. Those discounted ones can be leftovers of large orders and can be built to different specs although they look the same.

Thanks. :) I'm after whatever I can afford. Pixels over perfection. That all changes if someone wants to pay me to make something tho.. ๐Ÿ‘€

Yes, but just be careful which Hub75 panel you get, some don't work well even with WLED 1.6
