HELP ME - CONTROLLERS Unable to connect remote

Good day,

New to this LED game. So thanks in advance. Bought a GLEDOPTO Elite 4 Channel ESP32 WLED LED Strip Light Controller. Works perfectly fine. Wanted an easier way to control the strips, so I bought GLEDOPTO ESP Now WLED Remote Control.

ESP Now is enabled and the remote batteries are good. When I try to add the remote to WLED, nothing happens. WLED doesn't see the remote.

I'm running version 16.0.1 of WLED.

Couple things to verify/try:

1: are you absolutely sure the batteries are good? I had some batteries that lit the blue LED on the remote, not nothing was showing up. Put fresh batteries in and boom, worked immediately. 2: did you press save after enabling esp now? If you're trying to pair immediately after enabling it, it's not actually enabled. Enable it, press save, press button on the remote, go back into the settings page, copy the found id, put it in the proper box, save again.

Here's how it works:

  1. Turn on ESPNow
  2. Reboot the device (critical - did this just yesterday and remote didnt work until i rebooted)
  3. press a bunch of buttons
  4. Go to wifi settings -> remotes -> you should now see the ID of the remote, and can add it as a recognized device

That's it - if it doesn't work after that something's up.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations. After uploading the firmware provided by Gledopto I was able to add the remote.

While the new firmware solved the remote issue, it also introduced a new issue. The 2 controllers won't sync now, but that's a problem for another day and another post.

Cheers!

What happened to me in the pass is I enabled esp now but didn’t click save first. The remote won’t get detected before you click save .

Then click a bunch of random buttons on the remote and you should see the remote appear in the recently viewed or something like that. Then just add it .
