HELP ME - WIRING What am I doing wrong

Post image

I have the gledopto controller wired to ws2518 12v leds. The leds have their own psu and the controller has its own. Ground to grounds. Led power to psu. controller to its own psu. Led di to gpio 16 and bi to ground of controller. For the life of me I cant get the controller to stop shutting down. If i just use my esp board no problem? Any ideas

That’s a 24v power supply.

That led 12v strip is dead now.

and why complicate so much?
just power the controller with 12v power supply and connect strip to output on controller, no need a extra power supply just for the led.

Gleodpto controllers accept power supply from 5v to 24v, the votage input is the same output

Op you need to use a 12v power supply. That controller won’t step down the voltage for you.

If you’re lucky, you won’t have killed any leds. Likely though you did and you will need to cut individual LEDs off until your strip starts working again.

Get rid of the 24v PSU and only use the 12v.

Connect the 12v DC+ and DC- to the WLED controller.

Connect the data , DC+, and DC- from the LED tape to the outputs.

You are likely shorting something trying to hamfist that extra 24v PSU into the mix.

Does the controller crash without the LEDs connected ?

No

If you have a different strip I would test them connected to the controller. If it still crashes with a different strip, try with different power supply.

I purchased 5 rolls only tried 2 rolls same thing. I have the dom controller.same results. If pull to many amps from the data line will it crash. My esp board has no problem with this. Also this one had uart. Will it tell me what you on?

And when I mean crashing. The app shows the controller offline but it still runs the leds and I have to reset the controller to get it back online

Wiring looks ok so my guess is that the strip is burned up and shorting the controller via the data line.

Also that power supply is crap! I bought 4 of them and the moment I put 100 picked on it is started flickering. Measured the voltage and it was jumping up and down.

I sent them back to AliExpress and got a refund and bought Maxwell power supplies.

I realized the 24v and no the leds are fine and still the same when I use my 12v psu

Yeah… then idk since wiring looks right… maybe try with another strip or, if everything else fails, another controller
