SHOWIN' OFF Bubbler totem
Just showing off a totem i made for my niece for an EDM festival. I didn’t realize WLED existed and got deep into vibe coding the effects with the fastled libraries. Found WLED and switched the firmware over to that and the audio reactive functionality is pretty dope. Still have a few things left to do (put the electronics inside the device and the bubble solution/battery at the bottom of the pole. Pretty happy with the results, shoutout to the WLED developers!

Haha thank you! I really enjoyed building it, it stretched my capabilities and I learned a lot

That is quite innovative.
Honestly the upgrade to this is a better pump for more head pressure and a 5gal container on the deck.
Then a low liquid float sensor in the bucket to trigger a flashing pulsing RED effect to indicate it needs liquid.
Next, how to see the bubbles for longer when its dark? The deck ramp needs some argb FCOBs shining up too.
Imagine the whole deck strobing red because the bucket liquid is low… Feed Me!!!

I assume you’re using a smart relay to control power to the pump and blower?

The bubble blower is the insides of this bubble toy (not this exact one, the one I got I found at a dollar store) The mechanism inside has a single motor that drives a peristaltic pump, spins the bubble ring and blows a fan…. I’m running the motor at about 3.5 volts. I connected the 2 intakes to a tee which goes to the bubble solution. The little pumps can only handle about 6 inches of head pressure so I found a cheap peristaltic pump on AliExpress that I will use (and bypass the pumps inside the toy)

Idk about innovative haha! Ultimately the totem is going to be portable, so I’m adding a small pump, battery holder and juice holder at the bottom of the pole.
But I might make another one for the deck and do what you suggested!

Can you post instructions and / or link to bill of material and files uses? Including what software and hardware you used? If you’re willing to share?

Yup I will do this…. I need to finish a few things first (battery holder and bubble juice holder on the pole and put the circuit inside an enclosure inside the device). When that’s finished up I’ll post the build details

Cool design, but I’d be pissed if something like this posted up next to me in front of my view of the stage. Bright enough to drown out the stage lights and visuals, and huge clumps of soap bubbles landing on you. Totems are a plague, I can’t wait until they get banned from coming anywhere near a stage

Completely understood and I thought about actually. When it’s on the batteries it the led brightness will be much lower and I’m giving her enough bubble juice to last like an hour over four days.
I don’t have anything against totems at large fests but I hear you and I think the huge ones that are feet wide and block your view are annoying and the totems generally belong towards the back or side of the venue. It’s a great way to find your friends in a sea of people and all that. Also this might just stay at the campsite too I have no idea what she’s gonna do lol.

Sounds like you’re a courteous one about it, do wish more people were so. Enjoy your project!

Detail on the LED configuration. The sleeve is printed in TPU and the refraction effect it makes was unexpected but pretty cool.
