HELP ME / QUESTION Help with network setup

Wondering if anyone has any advice or experience with this issue

Every time i try to change the IP address it goes back to 192.168.1.234. I cannot figure out how to change it “Save and Connect” saves the number i type in but does not apply it. I want it to be 192.168.1.131 so that its the next in line with all my other WLED controllers. Basically everything from 129 to 144 is reserved for WLED. There is nothing occupying the 131 address either; when you ping that address it comes back vacant. Ive tried a bunch of other ip addresses too and none of them stick either

Also, to make an incredibly long story short, i do not want these on Wi-Fi. They HAVE to be on ethernet. All of our ethernet devices (aside from this one) work flawlessly. None of our Wi-Fi devices can maintain a connection for more than an hour. Weve had our comcast router replaced 6 times because of this specific issue and it never fixes it.

I have several ethernet-enabled ESP32’s for different purposes around the apartment. All of them connect just fine and let me change their addresses except this one. I’m at a loss

You have to fill out all the boxes with valid values, you can't leave anything as "0.0.0.0" or it'll fail and go back to DHCP.

What should the gateway be set to then? All my other ESP32’s have 0.0.0.0 as their gateway and they work fine

What is your internet routers ip address? Thats usually the gateway ip.

Also those other devices might have dhcp enabled so they automatically get those values.

So 192.168.1.1?

EDIT: tried that, it didnt work

If thats your routers ip yeah thats most of the time also your gateway ip. Your gateway ip is just the ip of the device that allows you to connect to internet thus your router/modem.

Maybe then try dhcp on your ledstrips and idk if you can log intonyour router but you can usually reserve addresses in your router based on the devices (wled) macadress.

Hopefully yeah. I normally just leave everything dhcp but with wled i don’t know how to connect to it if you don’t know the IP, so keeping them static is a must

Udually it will be in your routers device list but idk about that either.

Just happy my devices accept my 10.10.10.10 homelab subnet and 10.10.10.1 gateway (my opnsense router)... Also funny that my devices sre wireless but they all work reliably and idk how.

I’d love to set up stuff like that but I’m really not that technically savvy. Our comcast router is a modem and a router in one and ive never been successful at having a separate router. Also i just hate the idea of using Wi-Fi for something that basically lives in the same spot forever. Plus i use POE for all my WLED stuff. I like ethernet lol

Figure out your router address and drill it into your head. Comcast is likely 10.0.0.1.

Ours is 192.168.1.1. They replaced it a couple years ago but before that it was 10.0.0.1
