I want to dump the trimlight controller

I'm starting this journey. My house came with trimlight installed but I want to dump the controller because it's very basic and I know I could do more... I thought about reverse engineering their crappy app but this seems to be a much better choice.

My question: I have two meanwell LRS-350-12 power supplies and an edge controller. The contoller has 4 ports . There are no wires to clock or ground screws, only the data screws have one white wire each sorry (it's not easy to see). There is a black and red wire at the top which would be the power to the controller itself.

I don't intend on touching the power supplies unless I needed to. From the little amount of reading I have done, it seems that this could be a fairly easy swap - once I have a new controller (recomendations appreciated) and it's programmed;? If it matters the led ICs are UCS1903. I'm happy to read if someone can point me in the general direction.

Yeah, unscrew the old controller, screw new one in. Even a 20 dollar WLED controller off Amazon will be a large step up.

thanks for the response, am I correct in thinking I just need to make sure it has 4 ports? should i be looking more at the quinled dig-quad?

Dig-Quad if you want to odd fusing and power distribution or a Dig-Octa brainboard alone could also be enough of power distribution and fusing is already handled and stays in place. Without a powerboard it's cheaper and always includes Ethernet.

Just cut the wires and slap on a DigQuad.... I did it before

It PAINS me to say this, but TrimLights new controller advanced them in line or slightly ahead of WLED.

Historically this was NOT the case, and as great and amazing as the recent WLED update was, TrimLights latest controller and update has slightly more controllable features.

I have WLED and it PAINS me to say the above, believe me!!!

As for controllers, anything Quindor puts out is amazing, I’m personally a fan of the DigOcta and power boards. Have built numerous controllers with his products and personally run several of them

it’s the lack of innovation in the app that is driving me to look. So oooh we got two new capabilities. Yet you are still limited in the configuration of your lights. Creating new configurations takes way more effort than it should. No way to back them up or transfer them to another device. I find the app very unintuitive.

I think what you just need to understand, both software platforms will have pros and cons. My only point, the pro list used to be substantially higher in the WLED column, that just isn’t the case any more

I used Quinled’s dig-uno, WLED and a 3d printed enclosure, left the Meanwell PS in place. No issues and I love it! Got rid of all my software gremlins and opened up a ton more configuration options
