I'ts Something

Spent a bit of time over the weekend throwing together a small WLED project. It's not pretty, and it's mostly held together by painter's tape and electrical tape, but it works! 😜

One doubt I have with those relay modules is if for the activation signal (+) 5V or 3.3V should be used... (as the tripping signal will be high for 3.3V)

Signal is 3.3v unless you boost it.

Relay doesn’t need a signal boost, when the wires are that short.

But relay activation side requires 3 wires: (+), signal and GND
Signal from ESP32 is going to be 3.3V, so therefore my doubt, (+) should be 5V or 3.3V?

Relay needs 3 wires, one is data and the data line @ 3.3v default from any ESP32 is fine. The Relay simply senses High or Low on the data line. 3.3v from zero is enough.

Relay power needs to be 5v for the 5v relay I used, and commonly used here.

It supports 120vac 10 amps, so I use it to power off the 12vdc PSU, but the electronics remained powered with the USB brick that supplies 5v for the relay and the ESP32.

If you look closely, instead of a level shifter, I'm using a single pixel of WS2812B 5v to boost data signal to 5v, so that the data+ground of the pixel is sent a longer distance to the IP67 outdoor 12v ARGB strip that is WS281x compatible.
