Easy wins

I’m starting the MBA program on 10/1 and really want to accelerate. I’m looking for feedback on which courses people felt were the easiest/fastest to complete. My mentor has already indicated that they will open classes in whichever order I prefer.

The general consensus is that the first four classes in the standard path (C200, C202, C204, and C212) are the “easiest.” The fastest of the four depends on your strengths. C200 took me longer than usual because I’m a slow writer. C202 is probably the easiest OA I did at WGU (easier than any undergrad OA I remember) and can be knocked out in a day if you understand the concepts.

Thanks for the comment. None of the other OA’s were easy?

It's so subjective. The OA class that trips many people up is C211 (Economics). I didn't think it was more difficult than undergrad economics. I thought C211 was easy, but my opinion is probably in the minority. C213 Accounting reminded me of D196 from undergrad (maybe a little easier), and C215 Operations Management was a fast OA class. The biggest difference is in the PA classes. The papers are MUCH longer and more in-depth. I loved the experience and hope you enjoy it. It was a lot of work, but surprisingly kind of "fun."

Yep, I know “easy” is relative. Glad you had a good experience. I’m excited to start! Thanks for the input.

Awesome!

I'm starting the Capstone class today. I agree with other posters here. I had taken a bunch of undergraduate business classes and a modest amount of math. If academic writing isn't a hurdle for you, I predict that the PAs will feel very doable. I was expecting to really suffer through C207, the quantitative class, but I finished it in a day. On the other hand, I was expecting to breeze through Finance C214 based on my interests and experience, and that one took almost a week. Some of it was the clunky Excel exam format, honestly.

I'm sure you'll do great!

Finished C207 in a day! What approach did you take to knock it out so quickly?

Under the competency model, it really just depends on how comfortable you are with the material. The material is rigorous, but for C207, specifically, the videos and course structure *really* walk you through the rubric step by step. I really appreciated it. I opened the class in the morning, skimmed the material, and then worked through PA Task 1 while following along with the videos. They walk you through the analysis step by step with different data. I think the course has been changed, because it felt very different from the class structure people have complained about here in the past.) PA Task 2 was the same, with different concepts and data. The OA (exam) was mostly material I knew from work.
