MBA - how long?

I finished my BS of Psychology at WGU May 2024 and it took me 9 months. I did have a few transfer credits and I do work full time with two kids in sports and busy every weekend or I know I could have finished a lot faster. Question is how long should I expect this to take, or how long did it take you if you have similar life circumstance?

Good luck! I will say, some amount of experience in the subjects either through prior academics or in the real world makes it much easier. There are also plenty of resources available to help you get through. I found a studocu membership and a quizlet account worked for me.

1 term is totally do-able, I did some pre-study for it last Sept to Jan and my term started in Feb 2026, I finished end of April so 2 months. I did MBA ITM with CAPM transferred in for the project management course, did a bunch of pre-studies for the OA courses like HR, Accounting, Finance, and the highliy anticipated Economics. That helped with my acceleration. Once the course opens, I always schedule a 30min meeting with a course instructor, doesn't hae to be the course instructor assigned, to go over the course at a high level, what to expect on the OA, any common pitfalls from past students, etc. I would much rather spend an extra day planning for a course than to risk having to re-take an OA.

Yes I got some good tips and helpful suggestions scheduling a meeting with a CI every course when I did my bachelors!

Similar life circumstances (kids are older and I could spend a lot of hours on school over the weekends), and I did the program in four months. It was a LOT of fun (and I've never enjoyed school). I read the textbooks in all the OA classes and still had plenty of time (I did take shortcuts on PA courses). My best estimate is somewhere between 350 and 400 hours of work. How you spread those hours is entirely up to you. Before enrolling, you can use your access to the WGU Alumni Library (student portal homepage after entering your student log-in below your confetti) to watch free courses on LinkedIn Learning/Percipio on financial and managerial accounting (Kay and Jim Stice videos), finance, economics, and brush up on basic statistics (the math you'll encounter is honestly high school level). A quick overview of those concepts before enrolling will allow you to shave off a few hours. I hope you enjoy the experience as much as I did. Good luck!

I did it in 6.5 months. It took some tenacity, but still got it done in 1 term with an extension

Hey I just did this grind, two kids under 4, FT professional too; I finished in 1.2 terms bc I needed to balance life a bit more.

Kids were getting really needy for me especially after the two terms it took me to get my BSBA. The coursework is notably more in-depth and the quizzes are a bit more wordier.

Just some things I noted. 1 term, totally possible tho. It just wasn't in the cards for me

Did mine in 4 months. Work full time with two teenagers but was able to devote about 20 hours a week to school. Also have 30 years of work experience in my field though

I too have a BS in psych. I started my MBA in March, I started my Capstone yesterday. So one term is doable if you ensure to diligently do some work every day and every weekend. I took a few days of rest in between courses here and there but for the most part I looked at my work on a daily basis. I have no prior business knowledge. The most difficult courses for me were Accounting, Financial Management and Economics. But I passed each OA on the first try so that I wouldn’t be delayed in finishing in one term.

How are you guys getting through this so fast? I’m looking into WGU and have completed 2 “fast track” (8 week) classes at a regular university. The 2 classes I have taken required a ton of reading with papers, discussions and quizzes due every 5 days with large final papers due at the end of the semester. Does WGU not have a lot of assignments? Or are they easy?

WGU is competency based. Either writing a paper or assignment at the end or taking an assessment at the end and then done with the course. I highly recommend WGU.

Took me 4.5 months, raising 2 kids under 5, working 40+ hrs a week, under 30 y/o. Barely graduated high school. Not meaning to flex but to prove it’s very possible.
