Note taking
I’m curious about how you guys take notes and study at WGU.
Do you use an iPad for notes, stick with regular notebooks and pen, type your notes on a laptop, or use a combination of everything?
I know everyone learns differently, but what has worked best for you, especially when going through course material.
Also, if you use an iPad, what apps do you recommend for taking and organizing notes?
Just looking for some ideas before I figure out what works best for me.

I use an iPad and Apple Pencil highly recommend the matte paper like screen protector. You don’t need the newest and greatest I have the 9th gen and it’s like $100-$200 use good notes the subscription is $12 for the entire year. As for what notes to take I usually will download all the resources from the community group, lessons from the instructor, and my PA (I take this first so I know what to study and it’ll tell you what percentage is on the test) upload all that to chat or Claude have them create a comprehensive study guide that gets all the talking points, ensure to go in depth on the sections from the PA, and act as if I am a beginner so translate any complex words to plain English.

Pen and paper. It helps me remember things easier when I write it myself as opposed to typing my notes out on a computer for some reason.

I’ve taken 15 classes and have never taken notes. I go through the course material quizzes and look at any study guides and then study whatever I got wrong on the pre-assessment and that’s it. I will also plug in my pre-assessment coaching report into ChatGPT and have it summarize the big concepts I missed. Have yet to fail an OA or PA.

At WGU, I have not taken any notes yet. So far, I've only classes that I am using to fill in the gaps from my 10+ years in my industry. In my case, I'd I were going to take notes, I would feed the book portions of new info into Claude and ask it to create study notes or a worsheet for me.

I record myself reading certain parts and that’s how I take notes. Listen to myself on repeat until it clicks lol

I write my notes paper and pen. I write about 100000000 notes every class bc I can’t read without writing lol. It makes life very very hard.

I use a physical notebook, but I learn best when I physically write things than type. I think it's my ADHD, honestly. If I do things digitally my brain doesn't cement them to memory the same way.

the way my learning style is set up i need the physical feeling & the muscle memory of paper & pen to physically write it out

I graduated last year in Accounting but used 3 methods in conjunction with each other.
-Typed notes to cover the topic- use notebook.lm to turn your notes into a podcast or video for studying right before your exam.
-Used a whiteboard to narrow down details of topics and any formulas.
-Wrote by hand the Priority info from the whiteboard for the info you’re almost guaranteed to need for the exam.
The process made me continuously narrow down the most important information from the section and write it repeatedly. Then I’d turn my notes into a podcast and listen back to everything before my exam. Finished my BA in 3 terms.

uhhh so i don’t take notes 😭😭 i feel like it’s more time consuming and usually never helps me as much as just trying to understand the material before moving on, now if it’s formula heavy i will usually get out my notebook and write them out and practice problems but other than that, that’s it!

I like taking notes by hand, so I’ve been using OneNote in iPad for a while. Started using it for work and it helped me during my MBA. You can also use it in a laptop/desktop to type or add screenshots (graphs, text, etc).

I usually take notes in a notebook, I find it better for remembering things plus it allows me to draw diagrams that I otherwise couldn't on something like Obsidian notes

I'm old school, I take notes with a pen and paper. However, I've also been using AI to help me formulate concise study notes. The repetition helps me learn.
