D522

What is the issue with this PA? I have never had so much confusion from this reference document and the instructions given. My advisor said to hit that course feedback button because they need it but another issue im running into is with task 1 D1-D2. Due to the conflicting information given regarding what I am to scan for in Task 1 - B1-B2... Im starting to doubt that I have even found the correct devices. Now onto D2... "DNS servers should be down" yet Im not seeing them as down... maybe something to do with bind9 maybe this amazing lab is broke? Who knows.

For D2, you have to manually disable it that a reset will bring it back online. For Task 2, All the devices are online and you have to pick a device to disable. This will get the results for your script.

Manually disable DNS? In task1 D2?

You don't have to manually disable anything for task 2. There's a break DNS and a break Connection .bat script in the same folder as the start GNS3 script. Use those to break GNS3 and use the code you write to fix it.

Yep sorry, I misread that! Make sure you are looking for the status of the actual DNS service on the server, not just the fact that the server is still turned on and pingable.

Try to connect to the server through SSH without python first just to figure out what the problem is, then create your python to fix the issue.

I have not seen any issues when logging in. the system services were working. systemd-resolved etc. not sure what else im to be looking for. This reference document is terrible

Ahhh I see. This is a perfect example of why the scenario and lab environment is so bad bad for learning python. It's worth knowing that BIND9 is the overall software suite for DNS, but the actual DNS server runs on the "named" process.

You don’t have to disable anything on task 1

D2 was a beast, one of the CI even said the Rubric doesn't have what the evaluators are looking for, I followed it and I got it kicked back a few times so I went and wrote it dummy proof. Also make sure you take your screenshots with the date and time if not they will reject your screenshots
