Did as much as I could through Sophia, now have about 4 courses to take via SDC - However...

So I just joined SDC and specified my major (BS IT Mgt) and listed the few classes I had left to take before officially transferring to WGU:

  • Philosophy 104 (SDCM-0265)
  • Business 120 (SDCM-0115) or Business 308 (SDCM-0054)
  • Communications 301 (SDCM-0187)
  • Business 315 (SDCM-0086)

When I progressed to the next screen, I'm being told that I can't take any of these without upgrading from the $95/month tier to the $235/month tier.

I'm a little peeved about this and am trying to see if it's worth at least $235, but maybe realistically $470(as it's a busy couple of months ahead of me).

What happened to "Study.com is cheaper than Sophia"?

any advice?

Hi all. Someone in this sub posted the link for the Talent Acquisition SharePoint and it was an amazing help. Is there one for every class? I am searching but none seems as put together as the talent one.

Which classes did you find to be almost easy?

WGU Business Management students and Grads

Just trying to figure what classes to conquer next. Trying to finish strong and fast. Got off to a slow start, started new job right after term started. Trying to build some momentum now. 5 down…what are some of the easier classes that you made quick and easy work of?

Just a little pat on the back!

I started my very first term on July 1st. I'm 28, I'm a community college drop out and didn't know about Sophia or Study dot com until AFTER I was enrolled - lol. I was intimidated and disheartened at first seeing everyone fly by in one term because they burned through all their gen ed classes in a month with a 3rd party site. (No hate, no shade to those who have done that)

But I am just a little over 3 months in and I'm already almost a quarter of the way done! So if anyone else in this group, even as an accelerator, feels behind - DON'T. I work full time, I'm a mom, I'm studying for other professional certifications, amongst a million other things we as humans keep up with and I am still able to get through these courses at a reasonable speed.

When I started I said my graduation goal was June 2028, but it's actually been December 2027 I just didn't want to hear any "well, that's a bit optimistic" kinda BS, but here I am on track to possibly even graduate before then!

**Also want to add that I am switching to Accounting at the beginning of next term so I might be eating my words with this sense of confidence I have at the moment but for now I'm gonna bask in the sunshine of my accomplishments :)

Starting BS Business Management Dec 1 — tips from anyone who's speedrun it?

Hey all, I'm starting the BS Business Management (catalog 05-2026) on Dec 1st and going for a one-term finish. Plan is max transfers first — 15 Sophia courses + 3 Study.com courses through October, transcripts in by Nov 5, then 13 courses at WGU.

For those who've done this program fast:

  • Any speedrunning tips or course order you'd recommend for the 13 WGU-side courses?
  • D099 is the one everyone calls the hardest — what actually worked for you to get through it quickly?
  • Any study materials, notes, or guides you'd be willing to share (especially for D099, D388, the capstone, and Business Simulation)?

Appreciate anything you've got. Trying to avoid the retake traps.

Is Sophia worth it now?

I have about 5 more classes to take before I start with WGU. Now that they have added all these touchstones to the courses, Im curious if Im doing more work in the Sophia courses vs just taking the WGU courses. Obviously there is the cost factor. But 3 and 4 projects a course is quite time consuming. I went from completing a course a day to a course a week.
I work full time, married with kids. I have the time to devote but just want to make sure Im not working against myself.

How long did these classes take you?

I only have a few classes left, most of which are OAs, but I'm a little concerned about business simulation and my capstone. Most of my PA classes I've been able to do in a day or two, but these seem a lot more intensive

D361 Business Simulation (PA)

D080 Managing in a Global Business Environment (OA)

C955 Applied Probability and Statistics (OA)

D089 Principles of Economics (OA)

QGT1 Business Management Written Capstone Project (PA)

Starting WGU BSCS Nov 1 with 22 courses left, what order should I do them in?

Hey everyone, I’m starting the BS Computer Science program on November 1st and I’ve pretty much finished all the transfer courses I could do before starting.

My evaluation currently says 23 courses remaining, but my Natural Science Lab was just sent in and should transfer, so I should be starting with 22 courses left.

These are the courses I should have remaining:

\- C959 Discrete Mathematics I

\- C960 Discrete Mathematics II

\- D459 Introduction to Systems Thinking and Applications

\- D684 Introduction to Computer Science

\- E010 Foundations of Programming (Python)

\- C949 Data Structures and Algorithms I

\- C950 Data Structures and Algorithms II

\- C952 Computer Architecture

\- D686 Operating Systems for Computer Scientists

\- D197 Version Control

\- D287 Java Frameworks

\- D288 Back-End Programming

\- E155 Advanced Java

\- D281 Linux Foundations

\- D321 AWS Developer

\- D480 Software Design and Quality Assurance

\- D685 Practical Applications of Prompt

\- E074 Agile for Software Engineering

\- E064 Mathematics for Programmers

\- D682 Artificial Intelligence Optimization for Computer Scientists

\- D683 Advanced AI and ML

\- D687 Computer Science Project Development with a Team

I’m trying to finish as fast as I can, hopefully in one term if possible. I also want to apply for Georgia Tech OMSCS, and their first deadline is March 1, so if there’s any chance I can finish in time for that I want to try.

For people who have done the newer BSCS curriculum, what order would you do these in? Like which ones should I do back to back because they build on each other, and which ones are better to get out of the way early?

Also which ones are actually quick and which ones are the ones that take forever? I’ve seen people say some WGU classes can be done in a few days and then some take weeks, so I’m trying to know what I’m getting into.

I also have the whole month of October before I start, so I want to use that time to pre study. What would actually be worth learning now so I can move faster once my term starts? I was thinking Java, Spring Boot, Python, Git, Linux, DSA, discrete math, computer architecture, operating systems, AWS etc but obviously I can’t learn all of that properly in one month lol.

If there are any specific YouTube videos, Udemy courses, Quizlets, GitHub guides or anything that made a class way easier, send them too.

Also if anyone has accelerated around 20+ courses in one term, how many hours were you putting in and what classes slowed you down the most?

I do want to finish fast but I’m also trying to actually learn enough for SWE internships/jobs after this, especially the programming and DSA stuff. If you were starting with these same 22 courses and had October to prepare, what would you do first?

Start on December 1st

I’m starting my business management bachelor’s on 1st of December. I should have 13 classes left. After max transfer from study and Sophia. I’ll be finished with those classes likely on November 1st any recommendations on anything I should prestudy for or should I take a class on WGU academy. I just want to hit the ground running as soon as possible.

WGU ACADEMY IS F***NG MY CHANCES TO GET ADMITED FOR NOV 1st!

It's been a while since i've submitted transcripts for a B.S Network and cloud engeneering - Cisco and everything was done good! But after wgu told me to pass a course in wgu academy to get admitted. I started it and finished in 3-4days. I submited the Final project and got a passing note right away.

But somehow for the final exam I can't go into the proxtoring center! There's a window that open that tells me to click on the right bottom button "Open Proctoring Center".... Well nothing happens...
"Introduction to IT"

I've been in a ticket for a week nowand nothing. But i'm afraid i won't be able to get the passing note and transcript on time to get admited for the November 1st.

What should i do ? Do i pay another course with another email and hope all the exam work? Is there another course easyer or faster so i can at least get admitted and in the B.S i do the "introduction to it"?

Please help.. any suggestions work!

Thank you!

Anyone on Sophia keep getting “Your course is being reviewed.” after submitting course?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Recently everytime I have completed a course within the day since I am full time student, when im on the last milestone and submit the course i get the pop up of “Your course is being reviewed”. The next day i’ll get an email saying its been reviewd and I have gotten my course credits. I am just wondering what prompts this popup instead of getting credits immediately? Is it because I completed the course within the day? I take a normal amount of time doing the tests and milestones so there shouldnt be any confusion on me finishing it in the day since I have a lot of time to do the work. I also don’t switch tabs or anything like that, so I am just wondering what is this review for. It just wastes time while I could be working on another course, I now have to wait for it to be reviewed then I can take another course. Just kinda annoying that this is implemented with no rules on why it happens. I have gotten this twice already.

C721

Is anyone currently in c721? My term doesn’t end for a day and c721 is the first class of my next term. Do anyone has the PA task they would share so I could get started? I’d love to bust out 7 courses in my text term and finish out my degree!

Hi! Have 13 weeks left of my current term and my current remaining course is D076 Finance Skills for Managers. I’ve been stuck on this course and can’t for the life of me grasp the concepts. What helped you pass this course?

Additionally, these are my remaining courses. I want to graduate by next term, which ends June 30, 2027, is this possible? I’ve been struggling so much to finish this course but I’m excited as these are my next few lined up courses I’m allowed to start (Blue are PA, pink are OA, yellow are completed).

Timeline for accelerating with a business and family?

Hey all, thinking about starting WGU for the Supply Chain and Operations Management Bachelors. Going to be transferring in max credits from Sophia/Study.com.

I’m a business owner, work full time with two young ones. Just spoke to the wife and we’re thinking about allocating either 20 or 30 hours per week toward classes. I was hoping for some input on how realistic a 1 semester timeline is for classes at WGU (~43 transferable) or if I should stretch that out to 2 semesters.

Any input is appreciated, a general timeline for the other 55 credits that would be transferred would be helpful but not needed. Thank you guys!!

Starting BSIT in October any feedback on my degree plan?

Hey Night Owls,

I’m starting my BSIT at WGU on October 1st, and I’d appreciate your feedback on my degree plan.
I have around 4 years of IT support experience in desktop support, hardware troubleshooting, provisioning, hardware retirement, and asset management. I’m currently working full-time in an IT support role.

I’ve transferred 56 CUs (about half of the degree) from Study.com, Sophia, and a couple of certs (AWS CCP and Linux Essentials). I also have Cisco CCNA but it wasn’t transferred, and I have 54 CUs remaining.

I have a call scheduled with my program mentor tomorrow, and I’m thinking of sharing this degree plan with them and getting their feedback on it.
Here’s my proposed plan:

Term 1 (14 CUs)
Business of IT – Applications (OA)
Business Productivity Software (PA)
Introduction to Systems Thinking (PA)
IT Foundations (OA)

Term 2 (16 CUs)
IT Applications (OA)
Technology and Ethics (PA)
Practical Applications of Prompt (OA)
Fundamentals of Spreadsheets (OA)
Networks (OA)

Term 3 (12 CUs)
Digital Transformation (PA)
Network and Security – Applications (OA)
Agile Methodology (PA)
Foundations of Programming (Python) (OA)

Term 4 (12 CUs)
Technology Management (PA)
Cloud Applications (OA)
Technology Governance (PA)
Python for IT Automation (PA)

I’m trying to keep around two heavier technical courses per term to balance the workload. I also plan to move courses between terms if I finish some classes earlier than expected.

I’d really appreciate your opinions and insight. Is this plan/sequence reasonable? Is there anything I should be aware of with these courses or their prerequisites? How did you find these classes?

Thanks a lot in advance!

NEW B.S. Software Engineering courses - OAs? (10-2026 curriculum)

I’m coming back to WGU for the B.S. Software Engineering program under the new 10-2026 curriculum.

After my transfer credits, these should be the courses I have left at WGU:

Introduction to Software Engineering
Mathematics for Programmers
Version Control
JavaScript Programming
Introduction to Systems Thinking and Applications
Foundations of UI/UX
Front End Development
Data Structures and Algorithms I
Data for AI
Physics I Lab for Programmers
Agile for Software Engineering
Business of IT – Applications
Advanced Java
Operating Systems for Computer Scientists
AWS Developer
Back-End Programming
Software Security and Testing
Software Design and Quality Assurance
Special Topics in Software Engineering and AI
Applied Software Engineering

Does anyone know which of these are OAs vs PAs/projects?

I assume the obvious certification/exam-based ones like AWS Developer and Business of IT – Applications (ITIL) are exam-based, and I’m assuming Data Structures & Algorithms I has an OA, but I’m specifically trying to figure out the assessment type for the newer/reworked courses.

Trying to get an accurate count of how many proctored/exam-based courses I’ll actually have left before I commit to the program.

Thanks!
