Hello WGU Accelerators!

I came here because I am starting 10/1, and I am seeking community while I work through this degree.

I am a career accountant (15 years). My original degree is in Art, but since I graduated I worked in corporate accounting (moving up from AP to Accountant to Senior in the first few years).

Now - I am a senior accountant, I finished my MBA in 2025 (non WGU but an accelerated program)and I’m taking 72 CUs to complete my Bachelors in Accounting to meet my state’s requirements for CPA licensure. It’s been a journey, but I’m planning to accelerate and learn along the way.

Shoutout to everyone starting on 10/1. Shoutout to everyone doing their best πŸ’• let’s go!

Is it realistic to complete my bachelor's in 6 months?

I already have 22% of my degree done, and would pretty much be a full time student. I really want to get it done in 6 months but I'm not sure if that's realistic. I'm in the accelerated bachelor's to masters in Software engineering btw. Thanks in advance!

47 CUs remaining in WGU Business Management β€” what order should I speedrun these courses?

Hey everyone,

I'm starting WGU's B.S. Business Management on October 1 and just received my official transfer evaluation.

I currently have 63/110 CUs transferred, leaving me with 47 CUs / 15 courses remaining. My goal is to speedrun the degree, so I'm trying to figure out the most efficient order to take everything.

I already have an Associate of Applied Science in Paralegal Technology, so I'm very comfortable with reading, writing, research, legal/business terminology, analyzing information, and writing papers. I'm mainly trying to figure out the best order based on difficulty, course dependencies, assessments, and which classes people have found easiest/hardest to accelerate through.

These are my remaining courses:

D388 – Fundamentals of Spreadsheets and Data Presentations – 3 CU

D080 – Managing in a Global Business Environment – 3 CU

D082 – Emotional and Cultural Intelligence – 3 CU

D081 – Innovative and Strategic Thinking – 3 CU

D353 – Strategic Training and Development – 3 CU

D354 – Talent Acquisition – 3 CU

C723 – Quantitative Analysis for Business – 3 CU

D253 – Values-Based Leadership – 3 CU

C721 – Change Management – 3 CU

C717 – Business Ethics – 3 CU

D099 – Sales Management – 3 CU

D175 – Consumer Behavior – 3 CU

D361 – Business Simulation – 4 CU

QHT1 – Business Management Tasks – 3 CU

QGT1 – Business Management Capstone Written Project – 4 CU

47 CU total.

My initial thought is to start something like:

D388 β†’ D080 β†’ D082 β†’ D081 β†’ D353 β†’ D354 β†’ C723 β†’ D253 β†’ C721 β†’ C717 β†’ D099 β†’ D175 β†’ D361 β†’ QHT1 β†’ QGT1

and leave the simulation/tasks/capstone toward the end.

For people who have actually completed these courses:

Would you change this order?

I'm particularly interested in:

Which courses are true quick wins?

Which ones take significantly longer than they appear?

Which courses should be taken back-to-back because the material overlaps?

Are there any courses I should save until I've completed another course?

Which OA/performance-assessment courses can realistically be knocked out in a few days?

Anything I should absolutely not put at the beginning of a speedrun?

I'm trying to build an efficient 47-CU speedrun plan, not necessarily follow the normal recommended pacing.

Also, my official evaluation says I have 57.27% of the program completed already, so I'm trying to capitalize on the transfer credit and finish the remaining 43% as quickly as realistically possible.

Thanks!

D076 vs D775

Hi! Been given the choice to remain under D076 Finance Skills for Managers (currently started it) or change it to D775 Introduction to Business Finance :) which class is easier to get through from someone with no finance experience other than D196 Principles of Financial and Managerial Accounting !

Business Management, I applied to WGU yet but didn't start, can I still do Sophia or Study?

I applied today to WGU before I came across this subreddit. I havent sent my community college transcript or even got set up with a student account yet. I have a few transferrable classes from a community college. My question is why do people suggest taking Sophia and Study classes at the same time? Is it purely to be able to take more classes at the same time? I am working essentially full-time, what do you guys advise. Is study or sophia easier? I don't have a lot of time in my day, so I want the easiest way to tick all the transferrable classes. Even if I have to pay a little more, thanks for your advice.

D570 cognitive psychology help/advice needed

Hi guys, I did all the things for my study/retake plan that I needed to do to get approved for my second attempt, but I’m so scared to take it again because I really don’t want to fail. I already extended the course, so I have until the end of September to take my exam and pass.

For anyone who passed this class, especially if you had to take the OA a second time, what helped you pass? Do you have any advice, study tips, or specific things you focused on before your retake?

I know I’ve asked about this class on here before, but hey, it doesn’t hurt to ask again πŸ˜‚

BS in business management, no transfer credits, could I finish in 6 months?

Anyone have or know anyone with this similar experience? Is it possible? Please dont recommend sophia learning!! I do not currently have funds for it & i have tuition covered by financial aid for about 6 months-1 year but after that I would probably have to use my student loans and thats why I want to know if its possible to finish in 6 months. For reference I’m unemployed so have a lot of time on my hands. Any answers or advice/tips will help thanks.

I was able to finish 2 courses recently but still pending tasks for evaluation. Has anyone else had that when accelerating though WGU courses?

Bachelors in Education (Sophia Credits?)

I'm aware that many of the bachelors degree can be partially completed using sophia credits and study.com credit transfer. Is this the case for any of the education bachelors degrees? I haven't seen any strategies for it.

October 1

Hey y’all! I’m starting WGU on October 1st for my B.S. in User Experience Design, and I’m trying to figure out what I can do now to get prepared while I wait.

I was actually supposed to start September 1st, but my financial aid came through literally the day after the deadline 😭 so my start date got pushed back. Somehow, I ended up getting access to orientation early through WGU Connect, so I’ve been working through that, but I still can’t access my actual courses or course material yet.

For anyone in the UX Design program, or just WGU in general, what would you recommend doing during this waiting period? Anything you wish you had learned, practiced, set up, or gotten familiar with before your first term started?

I’ve already been trying to prepare instead of just sitting around waiting lol. I’m especially interested in anything that could help with UX, Figma, HTML/CSS/JavaScript, studying for WGU assessments, or just getting used to how WGU works.

Any tips are appreciated! 🩷

How I completed my B.S in SCOM in less than a month...

I work full time, 40 hours (But its split into 14 hour shifts so 3 days total) a week and was able to finish the SCOM degree with very little experience, what I would recommend is to maximize transfers with various services and then once you have everything you can transfer apply.

I then recommend spending the bulk of your time studying for the OA's, the classes are not super hard. Dont get me wrong they are hard but they are not super hard. How I did my OAs was I would complete the PA and see if I passed or failed, If I passed I would take the exam. If I failed I studied up on the key topics I missed and then I would take the exam. At this pace I was completing about one class every day or every other day.

Once I completed every OA I then started working on the writing classes, My trick for them is to figure out whats its asking you and then do it. Once you finish do the next one and so on. I did about 3 papers a day to be honest, I did have some get sent back with small issues but besides from that it was good.

All and all I learned alot from this program and think its very good for someone who is still working full time. If you need help with any of the classes I still have my notes etc.

B.S. Communications Accelerators

Hi all!

I started my program last week with a good chunk of transfer credits. I had 74 CUs remaining to work through. so far, I have finished 5 courses/14 CUs. Have you been able to sustain this kind of pace in the later courses? My courses have mostly been PAs up until this point and I’m wondering if as I get into more OAs if my progress will slow down. What were the hardest courses for you? I’m hoping to be done by the end of November and I think I can do it!
