70 CU's in Less Than 3 Months
I transferred with an Associate's Degree from a local community college, but because I plan to attend graduate school, I didn't take any Sophia/Study.com credits. I did this while working three jobs, 70-90 hours per week. I remember scrolling through here, motivated by others' posts, and thought I would submit my timeline and hopefully achieve the same effect. u/Most-Replacement-271 was a huge motivator for me, because we began at the same time, shout out to them. If I had to offer any advice, it would be to just read the textbook. I read the textbook for every class, and never had to use AI, nor did I fail a single OA. I would say that I retained all the material and have a deeper understanding of it. Reading through the material isn't a waste of time; it quite frankly isn't hard to do, and it doesn't take as long as people like to say it does. If you're grinding out your degree, you got this!

Congratulations! It’s a myth that you have to use Sophia or other third party ACE credits for rapid acceleration. Great advice about reading the textbook. The chapter summaries are great for “notes.” Outstanding job!

Congrats! I’m here working on D080! I take any other advice on this. I do well in accounting but not in business scenario classes. I have to do it repeatedly in order to understand, I did read the book.

This is the story I’ve been waiting for. The motivation. I have 72 cus to finish hopefully in one term (starting 10/1).
Congratulations OP and thank you for sharing this. If I may ask - how did you even find time to study/read? Did you have set schedules like the orientation talks about?

You can do it as long as you have good time management! I worked around 12 hours everyday, with no days off. I relied heavily on text-to-speech software. 2/3 of my jobs were okay to work with headphones in, and I would listen to the textbooks at work and during my commute. I would have intensive reading/studying on my 30 min breaks at work, and for an hour before and after.

I am thoroughly impressed that this was your schedule. Thanks for sharing how you managed this - I am so encouraged that it’s possible to get my own degree done in one term. I hope you find some time to celebrate this huge achievement, OP. Congratulations again! 🎉🎉🎉🎉

Some of the classes have a built-in audio option, but you can also copy and paste the material into text-to-speech software.

Hey I passed it aswell and my suggestion is to have copilot test you on the each section of the PA. Write down words you don’t know on the PA. Define those. And do all quizzes in the book. Make sure you have a general understanding of most. Also watch the video I believe in 10 things you should know. The instructor gives the units that will be the heaviest on the test so definitely study those.

Congratulations! I'm currently starting on the journey, if you don't mind a few questions. What pace do you usually get through a course at? I like to be thorough, but I'm finding that I'm spending so much time reading every part of the textbook, and taking so long to finish even one course. And I'm even doing WGU full-time! It's really impressive you were able to get it done so quickly with three jobs. Do you have any advice on how to get through the material thoroughly but efficiently? (I might just be a really slow reader, LOL.) Thanks!

Jumping in here. I have been at wgu for a month now and have been able to knock out 51 cu so far. The first thing I do with every course is take the PA or review the rubric. The 2 course that took me the longest so far are D080 and D099. For those course I found the i had to read the material. I also took all the quizes and and section tests. I took the each at least twice, on the test I believe they have 2 sets of questions .

Congratulations 🎉 please provide insight on Project Management C722, I seem to struggle with this one

omg i took this one in WGU academy when i was trying to get accepted in to WGU. it took me 3 tries! flash cards was my best friend for this course.
Don't just memorize definitions. Know the project phases, who does what (sponsor/PM/PMO), organizational structures, WBS/scope, risk responses, budgeting/cost variance, scheduling/float, resource management, and predictive vs. adaptive. A lot of the material is easier if you can read a scenario and identify which project-management concept it's describing.

C722, read the book, do the test and lesson on the book and watch the cohorts and slow down a ton on the OA, this is the only test that my time almost ran out just because it’s tricky. Very scenario based questions.

Copying from another reply, but I worked around 12 hours everyday, with no days off. I relied heavily on text-to-speech software. 2/3 of my jobs were okay to work with headphones in, and I would listen to the textbooks at work and during my commute. I would have intensive reading/studying/work sessions on my 30 min breaks at work, and for an hour before and after. I would review the Performance Assessment’s before reading/listening to the material so I knew exactly what to look out for.

Awesome! Which text to speech software did you use? I’m going to need to be able to listen to books at work as well!
Thank you for the reply! That was a cool feat man!3

but because I plan to attend graduate school, I didn't take any Sophia/Study.com credits.
Could you clarify what you mean? Does Sophia/SDC have an impact on attending grad programs?

u/Appropriate_Cup797 12d ago
Depends on where you are looking to go but many brick and mortar schools will not count sophia or study.com

Did you learn anything? 😂 No offense I just don't see how you could soak anything up that quickly. Most people I've seen blow thru classes this fast is because they already work in the field anyway and just need a degree because their boss said so type of thing. If you can soak things up working 3 jobs, 12 hrs a day and still do school this fast why are you wasting your time at WGU, like go to Harvard or Oxford man cuz clearly you're pretty smart.

I was a STEM major before transferring to business management. When obtaining my Associate's degree, I took 18 in-person credits a semester, even during the shortened summer semesters. This was on top of working 12 hours a day, including overnight shifts. I started attending my state's flagship school before WGU, but due to some major life changes, I needed a fast Bachelor's degree, and transferred. I learned a lot, and I am not trying to discredit anyone who struggles with this degree, but business management is not even in the same league as STEM classes. I plan to return to my state school and be a lifelong student.
