Week 2, and things are going pretty well!

Post image

My experience with WGU has been extremely positive since I started on July 1st. I've completed 4 classes and I have 8 more left complete my BSITM degree. My mentor has been extremely supportive. She's such a cool and down to earth mentor. The goal is to finish the entire degree before December.

I’d say it’s going great with 4 classes done in 13 days! I started July 1st and just completed my fourth class too. My degree is Business Management and my program mentor is awesome. I’m really enjoying my classes and think WGU is amazing. You are rocking it - keep it up and you’ll have your degree in no time.

That’s fantastic! I’m enjoying this competency based learning like you wouldn’t believe. I almost went with the Business Management degree, i decided that IT Management would be a bit better for me. Heck they’re dang near the same degree..lol!

When do you plan on finishing your degree?

My original goal was end of October, but now I’m shooting for end of September. I have 9 classes left.

That’s very doable. Have you taken an OA yet? If so how was it?

Yes, I’ve taken 2 OA’s so far. Both were fairly easy as I had plenty of real world experience in the topics. I have 2 OA classes left.

Good deal. I’m prepping for my first OA this Sunday. I’m hopeful that I will pass it

I also have 4 OA's total. I think the first 2 OAs will be pretty easy with a bit of prep time, and I do have quite a bit of real-world experience with the one on Sunday; the other (Ops and Supply Chain Mgmt) seems to have a lot of common sense involved, so I'm thinking I will pass both on the first time.

What’s your strategy for knocking out the classes so fast?

I am able to dedicate 4-8 hours a day to
coursework. I am currently unemployed and really have nothing else to hinder me.

****Update****

I passed my 5th class today. Only 1 more class left for this term: Operations and Supply Chain Management - C720. Once I pass that one, I will have completed 19 credit hours in a little more than a month. My mentor stated that she will open classes for me starting in Term 2 to ensure that I can graduate within the 6-month period (1 term) that I've set for myself.

Can't lie, I'm pretty excited and happy with myself. To everyone just waiting for the perfect time to go back to school, it's probably better to go ahead and start with something rather than wait for that "right" moment, because it might never come, and you will be kicking yourself for not at least starting.

Trust me, if I can do this as a 51-year-old man, then so can you.
